So today I attended TGS 2014 (me legs are killing me...) and I had the opportunity to personally talk to Yoshida.

So I has asked him the question that a lot of people would want to task.

'PERSONAL HOUSING!?'

So I first started off by saying 'There was a chaotic response to housing earlier this week; what do you think about that?'.

His response -

'Hmm.. yes it certainly was. But, I have been telling people about the changes of information to personal housing through forums and letters. Though there was the initial information which was indeed vague'

Me - 'I also looked forward to Personal Housing, but did not end up buying a house DUE TO IT BEING A LIL TO EXP' <-(I did slightly emphasize this, though in reality I do have enough).

'We have come to the decision which is 2.38 in housing, by thoroughly checking the market and gil retained by players. We know how much each player has. Though it is expensive, I think housing should be an achievement where players work hard to earn the gil, it should take some effort to buy a house. Players who laze around should make some effort to make gil.
If we make it anymore cheaper, it would cause problems to the game and market with RMT etc'

Somewhere in there he also said that more plots will be added with 2.4.

Also please note, this is from memory so it won't be correct word by word, but it is the gist of it.

With this I think we know where Yoshida is heading towards with housing. An achievement which you worked hard for, just like with your relic chain quests.

To be honest, I agree with him. Half the people I see complaining about housing request alternate gardening; to mass produce and sell onions for cheap gil I assume.

Anyways take what you want from it.

I also asked him about lack of inventory space. How I was leveling up all my crafts at the same time, leaving me with 4 full retainers.

To simplify what he said -

'We are working on a solution for that, but it is not as easy. So please bear with it for a little longer'

Alright, I had another talk to Yoshida today at TGS. Unfortunately he was a lot more busier than yesterday so we weren't able to talk much, if at all.

In regards to non-housing gardens and stables. No comment from Yoshida, there is nothing more to say about this right now. Sorry, but I don't have a clear answer on this one. Didn't have enough time to talk about personal inns.

Though I did suggest rental stables and gardens using gil to rent a stable/garden for a certain period of time.

P.S.S Sorry if you guys were waiting for a better answer. I wanted to get it for you guys... after I met him, I actually camped the SE booth to catch Yoshi off guard. But it was a wasted effort unfortunately.

All I do is laze about all day /bombdance in Limsa and I still bought a house, with a hot tub, now I laze about all day in the hot tub. What annoys me is that he admits it was vague but didn't bother to correct it even with many posts repeating his "less than FC housing" claim, a complete lack of communication on his behalf, maybe he didn't want X many accounts quitting before 2.38 so he could show his bosses that people were staying to try 2.38 and housing...........

His responses are really insensitive.
Unlike him, some of us don't use this game as a job.
People have kids, school, work, their love life and all other sorts of stuff to deal with.
Not many are willing to sacrifice that time. I won't sit here for hours on end on this game everyday
and I'm not lazy but doing the same stuff over and over does wear thin, so you'll get burnt out.
Not to mention, after buying a house, you need to buy furnishings. People also spend Gil on other things too, like melding
and stuff.

I think people here just want a small house.
Because realistically, getting a M or L will take years because in other words, there ARE enough
houses...but the prices for the other two, people do not care for.
I wonder if he knows how to make a fluff content actually fluff, and not a friggin' quest for your life.

If everyone could have a room, without needing a Free Company that has a house already, I think a lot of the heat would die down. Only remaining issue would be Gardening in such rooms, but I believe that's something they're already working on, so whatever.

I have absolutely no problem with the housing wards being a "Look how much Gil I had" d*ck waving zone, provided they give everyone an alternative. Alternatives is really what's causing a lot of issues with content lately... No housing alternative. No Allied Seals alternative. They started off giving us things like tomestones for literally everything, and now they're doing the opposite with new content... Kinda odd...

A few things;

Private Inn Rooms, obviously, for people without a Free Company/Free Company house.
Towers and Parks - this was something mentioned in interviews way back. Was this changed into Free Company actions, or is it still planned as something similar to the Mogenhancements of XIs Mog Houses? Other than being there, houses do kind of lack a purpose...

If you want to take the edge off, ask him why /hug doesn't cause the Wind-up Kobold minion to explode. At least, in the English client the flavour text for it mentions it exploding from tender hugs...

I know it's not about housing, but (unless someone shows otherwise) no-ones asked, that I've seen, what the sub class to unlock NIN will be. Will it be PUG or something else? So we know what gear to focus on in prep for 2,4.

Sorry but, it is unlikely that this will be answered. We will probably find out more thru the Live Letter tomorrow.

But I do remember Yoshida saying that DoW gear will work with NINJA, though they will also have their own unique sets.

I'd like someone to ask him why it's no different to FC housing and why we had to wait so long for it to be implemented? I know he gave some sort of reason as to why they opted to lump it in with FC housing, space and all that, but really, why the 8-9 month wait in between? Also they could have at least told us before hand 'oh by the way guys it'll just be the exact same thing, we're just working on server stuff or whatever.' Then I would have had the understanding way back when, and I'd have understood it was going to be something I could work towards. I wouldn't have felt the massive disappointment I felt when I checked those patch notes first thing Tuesday morning.
Also, just additionally - really pricing isn't the issue in my eyes (you get something like 150k a week minimum just from DR bonus if you play the job in need. Just from the bonus! That's not counting the daily bonus/gil drops/mat drops) I really just want to know why it's not different and why we couldn't have been told it was going to be the same despite numerous, numerous threads questioning/wondering how personal housing would work.
