Not really. He's not out of touch at all. Yoshi answers to investors, not to players. Despite all the "I'm not happy with FFXIV" talk going around the forums, the game is doing beyond great. So, if you're upset with the current status of FFXIV updates, cancel your subscription. Throwing wild accusations at the development team is going to get you no where.

Money comes from players, Investors desire money, Yoshi answers to players. Unless SE's business plan is flopping, then yeah sure Yoshi doesn't answer to players.

I'd say a lot of his responses to the housing stuff has been out of touch, like fighting RMT by making higher prices- lol just lol ("low prices would have been lower than FC prices, the price set for multiple people to pool together to).

However, just because someone is missing on one avenue doesn't mean they've missed all.. Its our nature to pick out what we dont like, I'm sure there are a number of things OP and others could pick out that they did like if asked to- but likely won't do it unless asked. Probably another reason why SE should start up their polls again, and other questions.
