Yeah, this last patch dealt a severe blow to my trust in SE.

And it's not even just housing.

Chocobo raising for example, that is not the name they should've used to what they gave us. We do not "raise" a chocobo. We simply train an already adult chocobo. And even there, it's just a cutscene with some exp in the end. Not even a mini-game. The coloring system is retarded too.

They should've given us the opportunity to breed chocobos and rise actual chicks, raise them via mini-games that would determine thier color, and have such color be an heritable trait for their offspring and so on. It's not hard and it wouldn't require multiple chocobo whistles either: simply put a window to choose which chocobo you want your whistle to call.

Instead it's just all about spending gil to buy things to rise a chocobo or gardening to make those items yourself, maybe buying the soil since it's difficult to get without a gathering class, etc.

And how about all those lv1 armors with nothing but vanity purposes? Why must they ALL come from super rare materials that drop in endgame dungeons and require a master crafter to make them? Do shops in Eorzea seriously not have civilian clothes, or are adventurers simply banned from them? Why do I have to have a ilvl110 DoW/DoM and a lv50 crafter class to get a damn lv1 t-shirt?

I'm not saying everything should be handed over to us, but as of now it feels all the content a casual non-raider player would enjoy requires huge amount of gil to be made first. Please break this vicious cycle.

At this point, I have very terrible expectations of how Gold Saucer will turn out to be.

So... I can't reply to a joke with another joke on these forums?

...Seems like there's actually another problem with these forums...

You can, you know, have a restricted access PTR (like isolating content for testing such as a server stress-test for Hunts & the like).

Not every PTR has to give early, exclusive access to raid encounters, etc.
If they open PTR to everyone, there really is nothing stopping anyone from going and "practicing" encounters. There really is no exclusive benefits or unfairness there. I think that if they were to test things on a PTR they would have found that Twintania freeze bug early on, or seen how hunts are going to be mobs, and many other things.
To get people to play on it they could maybe offer small rewards like a minion for testing certain features for a set amount of time. Nothing game-breaking but enough to encourage people to test.

More often than not (Specially if you bother to watch the Live Letters), it feels like Yoshi and their team are totally disconnected.
They say they use the forums as feedback source but I am highly doubting they truly are and even if they were, it wouldn't be the best way to gather info.
If they're going to continue to copy WOW, then at the very least try and copy their testing process and add a PTR.
Even if they use the forums as feedback, the feedback provided is reactionary rather than it being proactive before the content hits live servers.

Should distance yourself from the forums then, you're not going to win any arguments with children. I've tried myself as well. They'll only believe what they want to believe, and flock to (and rate up) any troll joke that's made instead of have decent conversation.

The housing implementation, while a very big flop, is a a special scenario that will likely not happen again. They went with a software solution that can only be greatly solved with mainly hardware, and as such this was the result. Most everything else are software measures and will all be on time and well implemented projects. There's a great disconnect from the player's side -- they simply don't understand how technology and the development process works.

I agree about the promises not being delivered on. How long now have they been talking about Gold Saucer? Definitely since 2.0, maybe earlier. Yet it won't be in 2.4, probably not 2.5. I'm doubtful there is any work done on it at all. They just seem to bust out some Gold Saucer news whenever people are upset. "Oh you don't like housing? But Triple Triad is coming! Please look forward to it!"

    Yeah, course it is.

Chocobo raising, while in-appropriately named, is fine just the way it is. The same goes for coloring. No issue there either. Not everything needs to be attached to a mini-game. Especially something like this.

What exactly is the matter with crafters having a niche? The gear they make is largely useless at endgame unless melded to the max. Let them have something to shoot for and make with their trades. It makes them gil and gives them something to work towards. Should it rain from the sky when you get on your knees and beg?

All the content that a casual non-raider would enjoy requires time.

Considering blizzard ignores player reactions to things on the PTR and only act when something is horribly broken, I'm iffy on a PTR.

I think a public test realm would be a good thing provided they have a more solid means to get feedback. An in-game survey system that unlocks on the PTR after testing particular pieces of content for a certain amount of time or beating a boss would be useful in assuring feedback comes from those that actually tested the content.

I feel there is nothing wrong with the whole Atma grinding. It goes by really quickly tbh. Just most ppl make it feel like it takes to long.

As for The Hunt and PS3/4 players... Not much I can say about that besides this is an MMO and for as long as I played MMOs (yes, I know FFXI is on PS as well) I feel MMOs should stick to PCs and PCs only. I see it as their fault and we (PC) should not be punished for it. The game already has limits due to it being on the PS3/4. NOTE: To clear up, I have nothing against PS players, I just feel because the game is also for the PS that the game also has to be limited. Not a full 100% open world is one of the reasons.

Rushing out content? I think they are at a good speed with that. Not to fast and not to slow. If you want slower new content.. then play WoW.. do the same thing (no new stuff) for 2-4 months.
