Personally I think they are just terrified of the amount of people playing the game. The last count was somewhere over 2 million players with level 50 jobs - that's about four times as many active players as XI had at its peak. They don't know how to handle it. So what's the solution?

More like; they don't know how to handle it, so there are growing pains as they learn to accommodate a larger playerbase. Could they be doing a better job? Yes, certainly with the year they've had. Hopefully this is a wake up call for them, because improvements to the servers go well beyond Housing.

Lets put the tin foil hat down, mm'kay? The notion that any company would go ahead and aim to reduce their revenue to a quarter is, well, insane.
