When 2.4 is released, there will be much more wards available (not just doubled). So save enough gil and buy your dream when it is available in a month.

Based on recent events I feel it is far more likely they won't even achieve doubling the current number of wards let alone giving access to more than they promised. Unless they increase the number of plots enough to fulfill all demand this problem will remain and people will continue to by locked out of content not because they cannot afford it but because there is not enough plots. Currently there is only enough plots to allow for around 1% of the player base to have a home, even after 2.4 I doubt this will rise to more then 2%. If they do not see major problem with that then all hope is lost.

if each of these wards is an actual physical server machine, then what happens a few years from now when its time to downgrade the server structure to remain profitable? When they are combining worlds to maintain a median population?

Also, what happens if you buy a house and then transfer worlds? so long house?

What I think would be smart for them to implement is a system that can pack up and store your house. Then be able to drop your house on any plot of similar size (with a possible fee for upgrading plot "quality"). The best reason to do this is when they implement the "must log in every 30 days" or lose your plot system, instead of just deleting your plot, house and all, they pack it up and store it for you. The plot is freed but your house is saved. Whenever you choose to reclaim the house, you can choose another plot of similar size to drop it back down on (again, possibly with some fees involved). It's also great for the eventual time when they'll need to start consolidating wards and or servers because either has become too sparse.

How do you get the 1%? Do not over estimate the number of active players. I agree that the percentage is small (less than 5% based on doubled wards). For Marlboro which has similar population to Ragnarok, there are plenty plots available in Ward 7 and 8 in Lavender Beds as of last night.

The problem is about expectation. People are expecting to own a house without much effort. When they realized that they need to pay the same amount gils as FCs, they will definitely complains.

As of 1 hour after the servers reopened yesterday, every small plot and most medium plots in every housing ward on excalibur were sold out.

In the future, we plan to be able to double the total land for all existing housing wards, including the two new wards, in Patch 2.4 with the system changes that we are currently working on.
(Basically, the number of wards available now will be doubled in Patch 2.4).

Because it isn't possible to have a plot for every single person that wants one, what is so hard to understand about that? it's like a residence in real life that only has 10 houses, but 200 people want to live there. It's just not going to happen. you come first you get it 1st.

It is very much possible to house every player if they just bothered to upgrade their servers and infrastructure which they themselves already admit is in a bad way as they are struggling to do many things already that they promised let alone how bad they will struggle when the expansion comes out. So one way or another they have to upgrade soon anyways, they might as well bite the bullet and do it now.
