It's simple really. Remove the stupid timer and maybe people will have more patience.

Thing is, once you're running content that's been in an MMO for a while now, it's expected that you do some amount of research. It's a tad bit silly to complain about that. I mean, back in the day, paperback and sometimes hard back strategy guides sold very well so it's hard to say for example: "Video games are meant to be played through trial and error and going in blind" when almost everyone at one point in their gaming career cracked out a strategy guide or gameshark.
When it comes to MMOs, videos give you a general idea, since Hullbreaker was what, 2.3? Content, that's just about 2 months old now, it's not like it's content released yesterdayIt's kind of like complaining about being told to watch a video on Ifrit Hard which is 4 year old content.
You have more than enough time to learn a dungeon lol, if you're hitting dungeon timer cap you were never meant to learn that dungeon since one can only die so many times to the first boss of Hullbreaker...the worm I can understand, the final boss..sure..but the gorilla?

OMG gorilla wipe? When we went first time in to it, it was a group, and just one person already did it (once), we didn't wipe at it, even if nobody watched the content. We did have a char dead at the worm (me) because the tank kept destroying the bubbles, and I thought that healer, tank and the BLM were more useful then me in that fight XD so i left my spot for one of them.
Timer cap was never a problem, ok yes, I did twice Aurum Vale (first two times) where we finished the last boss just a minute before the time ending XD.

I absolutely hate that the community sees a video as a mandatory requirement. It's like the player has to study for an exam just to go into a dungeon. What happened to going into a dungeon, fighting the boss, getting hit by a mechanic and going "oh, green things are bad in this fight"?
If you're going through roulette, it is just that. A roulette on the dungeon, the players etc. You should accept that perhaps people don't want to waste time watching a video with an annoying self-obsessed voice over explaining a mechanic that could be explained in 2 lines of text or by experiencing it once or twice at a cost of a couple of minutes and 100 gil.
I do a lot of endgame raiding in another mmo, thankfully with a group of like minded people. Do we die a lot? Of course, but we have a laugh doing it when we get hit in the face with something we didn't expect.
YouTube is not required to play this game, but social skills to communicate tactics instead to blame others.
As a Raid Leader, I do not forsake responsibility on my end to instruct payers as to different gimmicks for fights. The "set up your own group" suggestion works both ways. The DF is for everyone. Not just people who've already mastered the content. If the chance of getting paired up with new players who may not know the ins & outs is unacceptable to someone, then why gamble with DF? Why not recruit friends and/or set up PF for it? Make sure you never get grouped with inept players again.
However, there are certain fights, particular ones like Twintania, that I will reference them a video to get them familiar to the fight, and instruct them on the changes we do for our specific type of runs.
I take the same level of patience in Duty Finder, as it is essentially a tool for players who do not have the luxury of a solid community to constantly raid in the presence of.
Therefore, you are going to get people who rely on duty finder to get the party requirement necessary to clear content. I don't blame them for not wanting to spoil themselves on the twists and turns of the dungeons or fights themselves. Those who know about Turn 9 know well that just looking at the video guide of that fight is a potential spoiler for a pretty interesting twist.
So no, when I do Duty Finder, my expectations are going in there with a crew of those who are new, mixed with maybe one or two veterans. That's fine, that's the risk I take. Those who harass others about not watching videos? They should be reported. That sort of conduct should not be supported in our community, regardless of whether or not it is a courtesy to know the fight.
In complex fights, yes, videos are encouraged. I typically will have a set of links on hand to share if necessary. Otherwise, I'll always try to walk someone through. This game is a passtime, a hobby, not a job.
This generation is all about instant gratification. They want everything now, and don't want to work for it. Pathetic. I can agree on a few things in regards to 'wasting time' a.k.a. atma farming, but when it comes to playing the game...why would I want to watch a video of a fight instead of experiencing it for myself? It's like asking someone to tell you what happens in a movie before going to see it. I don't want my fun turned into a 'chore'.
It would've taken him as much time to explain the mechanics, but he chose to insult them.
If you can't handle new players why even use the DF...
