That makes sense. That'll need some testing—to see if a color gets "locked-in" when it says the feathers are changing or when the six hours are up. Maybe starting from Desert Yellow and continually stopping at the first feather change won't give you the same results as seeing the same amount of feather changes in one feeding.
Though someone may beat me to it, once my berries are done growing tomorrow night, I can feed until I get 17 feather changing messages and see if I end up at Lavender Blue/Purple. =) I'm trying for Plum Purple and I was saying to myself that 17 would be a good number to try for that anyway. =P
