I actually did that earlier with a couple sets of colors. I look at a linear progression, and a geometric progression, and couldn't match a curve that would be valuable. Of course at the time I was looking at individual fruits, not numbers of messages (as that information was not generally available)

However, I'm personally beginning to drift away from the idea that it is a numeric change in RGB values, and instead just a single step progression along a constructed palette of colors. The challenge I am facing, and I think we will face, is constructing the palette that they use.
