Never-mind motives, journalists should rely on facts. If the reviewer did his due diligence, he would have known there was a major patch coming on the 21st or soon after. this makes one of two things true:

1. The reviewer did not bother to do any research (bad journalism)

2. The reviewer did his research and knew a patch was coming but chose to ignore the facts (bad journalism)

Take your pick.

I pick nr. 3:
The interviewer was well aware of the patch situation, actually stated as much in the review (second paragraph if you're wondering) and gives a perfectly reasonable explanation why there is no sense in waiting for yet another patch (that would likely have been included in the review if it wouldn't have been delayed yet again), given that with the many changes to the core of the games mechanics, 1.18 is likely to break almost as much as it's going to fix, so we'll have to wait yet another patch until things are "the way they are supposed to be so they can be reviewed".

You got to draw the line somewhere.
Though they could have drawn it at a better time, no doubt.
