Jump. We've pretty much confirmed it is coming. What further details can we wrestle out of you about it?

Yoshida: All I can say is that we are not emphasising jumping with the jump key as a means to cover vast distances on the map or an element that must be used during battle strategies... Maybe it's easiest to say it will just be like the jump you generally see in MMO's.

Um... I don't get "not jumping up ledges" from that exert.

"Not emphasizing as a means to cover vast distances" just says to me that there won't be much jumping over pits. But jumping up ledges is different. Either way. Not "emphasizing" doesn't mean it will never be used in those manors.

To me it seems to indicate that we'll still have to walk around the same crap we have to walk around now even with jump. But I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

So there you have, you asked for it; jumping ala WoW, now you all got it. Congratulations.

By saying that jump won't be used to cover "vast distances" on the map, he's most likely referring to MMOs like Aion, where you can jump and glide to zoom around the map. Considering that they're implementing jump as well as redesigning the map, I think it's reasonable to expect at least some jumping from ledge to ledge in the game. Whether or not you'll HAVE to do it to get to certain areas is a different thing. I hope so, though. Sounds like fun.
