I don't understand SE's position regarding the vote-kick system and its abuse either. If you kick someone for a reason not reflected in their options (afk, offline, harrassment) it should be against the ToS and punishable. All this "we don't interfere with players disputes and you can use the function if you disagree with others playstyle" is absoute rubbish and creates the comunity we have now, with no effort or respect. This is an online game, we play with others, we have to respect others playstyle just as they respect us, but there's a limit.I rarely kick people, and certainly not because I dislike how they play. They have a reason for that just as I have mine for how I play. But if I have an RMT-like player, who doesn't read the party chat, goes aimless through the dungeon and causes deaths and won't take advices, then yes, I will vote kick, but after talking to the party and if the rest agrees too. Sadly the option I have to choose is "harrassment", since there is no option for cheating or lack of team play.

I got kicked the other day for the first time in my game time. I was blm, joined an expert roulette and Tamtara HM popped, with a brd, sch and pld. The brd was new so between me and the sch we explained the bosses. We cleared the first one after one wipe (the brd shot the adds but learned not to next time) and we keep going to the rooms where the multiface mob pops from the coffin. The tank stands in the center of the room waiting, the sch at the door, the brd wouldn't know what was gonna happen, so I thought I might aswell open the coffin. Knowing the healers sometimes open it to avoid the tank getting terror, I thought why not the blm. So I opened it, the tank pulled the mob, we killed, moved on to the next one. The next one has 2 adds with it, so I did the same, but the tank didn't get the adds so I stood next to him so he could flash/whatever, but the main mob casted paralyze3 and I could not get out of range. We all got paralyzed and I noticed the sch trying to cast ruin and getting interrupted all the time, and wondered why he wouldn't leeches himself. After a while it wore off and we killed. I said in party "No leeches? :/" and the sch goes "don't stand so close, I didn't pay attention". Moving on to the next coffin, I pop and adds come out again, I stay next to the tank, same as before blabla, got paralyzed again, rest of the party was fine, they killed and moved on, the sch ahead and I'm still standing there paralyzed with 20 seconds and can't even walk. I say in party "are you serious" and next thing I see is the screen going black and I repop in Mor Dhona, "you have been expelled from the party and the duty". I send a report with the names of all of them describing what happened, and the answer I get was basicly that they didn't do anything against the ToS, and SE doesn't interfere with players disputes.

So this leaves me with the impresssion I should not contribute or help the party, let someone else pop the coffin, I just dps and let the others work. If someone doesn't play the job as I see fit and doesn't use leeches/esuna/flash when needed, I will shut up, and if I feel like it I will votekick the ones I dislike, cause aparently that's how we roll now, no?

Yes, you were kicked unfairly, but it's hard for SE (or anyone really) to put rules in the game against stupidity.

I'll put up with some serious ****, if the person is presenting so much trouble that the party would be much better off without them, I'll first ask that person politely to excuse theirself from the party, and if they refuse, I or someone else will initiate the vote kick and I'll apologize to them before they leave. I don't like doing it and makes me feel guilty ever removing someone or asking them to leave, but seriously, I'm not going to waste an extra hour doing something that normally only takes far less time.

Everyone has their playstyles, their own personalities, their own levels of patience, their own time agendas and separate responsibilities(either inside or outside the game). Not every group will see eye to eye or meet each others' expectations.

I only ask that people try try TRY to treat each other with respect and seriously consider another players' feelings before making use of the vote-kick feature.
