The problem is that regardless of everyone's personal feelings, this game has to live up to the standards of a modern MMO. It doesn't have to do that now, that's not the point. Someday it will have to. That's the point.

And that's exactly my concern. I don't care about playing the game as it is. I care about the future prospects, and the problem is that 2-3 major patches will not be enough after 1.18. It still won't be up to par.

Whatever this forum might think is irrelevant. if there is no mass appeal, the game won't be left running for you alone.

I'm not frustrated. I'm not impatient. I just want the game to be a future success. The current development speed just won't be enough.

But who ever said that there were only going to be 2-3 major patches after 1.18? All that was said is that the team is currently working on major projects for 1.19 and 1.20 until the end of summer, but it seems obvious that this is not the end of the work. Obviously they have so much more to get done! No mention has even been eluded to in regards to Ishgard.

I don't think you should worry while the PC version is out, I think every patch up until the PS3 version comes out is going to fixes and revisions and there may be two or three months between patches. SE is going to use the PS3 release as their saving grace. When the PS3 version is out and they're still taking their sweet time, then be worried.

Instead of waiting 3 months for the next major patch in March, instead we are hit with a change in management, 5 months of low-profile development on the game... and on top of it the same 3 months of waiting for the major patch.

At this point Yoshida should be putting out patches to catch up- and hopefully surpass- Tanakas development schedule. Instead the major patches are still 3 months apart.

At this rate the November-May period was a waste of time.

They must have 1.19 and beyond ready to go much faster than it took to prepare 1.18. Otherwise we are looking at a late 2012 release schedule just because it took them so long to get started.

The fact that we have to wait even 2 more months just for Chocobo's is fundamentally retarded in MMO's. How in the hell can someone allow this game to be alive for 11 months without putting in some transports? Furthermore, how in the hell can S.E. expect (and have the balls to ask for patients) us not be be angered by this timeline?

No company does this. It's getting ridiculous people want them to do what pretty much no one else ever does just because you're getting impatient. The only plans that get laid out by people who run MMOs is the next update or upcoming expansion pack.

I want to get a rep/dev comment on this. If they won't tell us before 1.18 is out, fine. As long as they're aware that it is a concern among the community. Right now is the time for Yoshida to prove himself.
