How about it gets done like in many first person shooters, where your movement speed is slowed while jumping?

At the very least make sure each jump requires a key press, so we don't get people going AFK and leaving a can of Mt. Dew on their space bar so they jump forever.

please tell me you aren't talking about the jump feature like is in steam..... if so you must not have played those much since bunny hopping in those are quite common because it actually increases your speed not slows it down.
