Care to elaborate? There's no need to spam the jump button relentlessly, so I don't see how adding jump fatigue could be anything but a good idea unless your idea of a good time is griefing other players.

(EDIT: To be honest, I haven't felt the need to jump at all in this game since the environment pathing updates.)

You guys shouldn't worry that much.
WOW is the only MMO where people abuse of the jump feature.

I played Aion and Rift and that would never happen.
People usually used it during PvP and to climb a small mountain or something.

FFXIV has a community mature enough to use the jump feature correctly.

so why are we complaining about jump again? it only adds something positive to the gem, nothing negative about it. "wat bonny jomp", come on now, i dont see you guys complaining about spamming emotions. you are just being ridickulous and childish. go back to bed already.

"jump fatigue", just look at how dumb it sounds. how about "laugh fatigue", too much laughing will tire your lunges and you are unable to run.

    this is preposterous.

Also in WoW there are abilities like Warrior Charge and Mages missle attacks that can be dodged by jumping. The more you jump the less you are on the ground susceptible to these attacks. As far as I know there isn't any attacks in XIV that would be affected by jump. Mainly because jump is not implemented yet lol. Doh! >.<

PvP it has the advantage in WoW of confusing your target and making it difficult to target them for a "Mouse Targeter". This doesn't happen in XIV because we mostly tab target and there isn't any PvP..... yet!

In WoW in PvP you can also run towards a mage jump over them. It's the quickest way to geto out of their "Field of View". This would work in XIV because if a target is not in front of you you can't cast a spell or target it! So if we had PvP this would be advantageous in XIV. Could be used against Mobs as well.

Personally I would prefer a jump attack that would just position me behind a mob. It would just look better than doing a normal jump. Because such a jump, depending on the mob size would need to be quite high to get over! So a normal jump you would just pass through the mob. This just looks silly.

So, point of this is. If the game supports advantages to combat for jumping, ppl are going to abuse it and use it. But if it doesn't make a difference, it likely won't be used in battle unless it's incorporated in skills. Which I think is the best way to implement jumping for battle.

Regular adventuring and traversing the terrain, though jumping anytime would be nice. Could make some interesting videos with XIV's head and eye tracking combined with jumping! Yayz!

I swear to God, if there is a "jumping fatigue" I am still going to jump around like a madman around towns to show you people that a few seconds in between jumps will still annoy you. So hold onto your hats, 'cause I'm gonna blow your mind. You'd need something that's at least a minute in between jumps to alleviate your immersion issues.

But on a side note: If the delay is longer than a minute, it's a very annoying restriction on the game's level designer. No two "required" jumps in an instance or whatever can be within a minute of each other. Sitting around doing nothing next to a ledge, waiting for a timer to finish up is bad design.

Yes I do have a My Little Pony sig because I'm not a complete loser who lives in his own little world, proclaiming something is stupid because I say so.

Would be the easiest solution to both those who want to spam and those who don't want to see anyone jumping. I have a feeling though that even with something like that feature people would still find a way to complain.

So then people will just teleport up ledges? That's not immersion breaking at all. It's weird enough when the game tries to interpret where a player is going and shoots them up a ledge.

And let me be clear. I didn't want jumping. If it was my choice, I'd say just get rid of the collision going down ledges, and that's fine with me. However, I am always against pointless restrictions that sound good on paper, but don't actually work or will only get in the way later on in the game's life.
