I am all for working hard to get something, but about a 2 weeks after 2.3 started I've done nothing but fishing (and coil), and so far, I haven't had any luck with the rare swimsuits (not the blue ones). I've been playing MMOs since I was a kid, and I've never seen that many layers of conditions and RNG for a reward.

It's an interesting place the game is in right now. Combat stuff is being handed out like it's the last day of a big sale (sands from hunts, coil basically irrelevant now), while purely vanity items like swimsuits are subject to mindboggling amounts of RNG. I've got the blue bikini for myself, but I can't even attempt to get the red ones because the frilled shark needs more gathering than I currently have. Gathering I can't get because the gryphonskin/astral accessories need so much of the 2500 seal item that I need to grind out either the seals or the money, and that's not even touching on the RNG that comes with trying to convert gear into the proper gatherers materia and then later melding it on successfully.

For vanity items.

I don't understand. I'm not complaining that they're hard to get, and I'm not asking that they just be handed to me, but c'mon. I've said it once and I'll continue to say it, the current game smacks of lazy game design. Outside of the somewhat interesting dungeon designs, the game is lazy.

Yea it's kinda funny because considering the amounts of hours I've put into progressing through second coil and getting the new swimsuits, I've already spent more time on fishing than coil and I still don't have a piece of swimsuit (other than the blue ones) I keep telling myself that maybe tomorrow is gonna be the day I get lucky, but after 2 weeks of telling myself that, it gets old and frustrating.

Can't justify these complaints.

In FFXI fishing for an Ebisu rod was on average a much more harrowing experience.

That doesn't really carry much weight since anything in FFXI was "a much more harrowing experience." At least fishing in XI was in line with every other type of grind there.

Here it's just nuts compared to other content.

What exactly is the point in this? That Best in Slot Gear your referring to is also useful for vanity.

My problem right now is, not only is the new vanity gear blocked by 8 ( 6 if you dont count weather and time) walls of RNG, but it also seems like having better gear seems to be make it worse. I've had fish "get away" more often when I got my supra rod than i did with the forager one.

Most of the best in slot gear is ugly. Hence, why we even bother to have vanity. Also, it was a joke.

just got epicly trolled by the game so the impossible fish Olgi got an HQ meaning I cannot even use it because its either x3 HQ or x3 NQ the NPC does not want to mix and match *sigh*.

Not to be a downer but from my experience with SE and fishing.. I don't think Yoshida really cares about it, and who ever is in charge doesn't really care to field other people's feedback. Whoever designs fishing feels like they were part of the Tanaka mindset team (which isn't meant to be an insult, plenty of people like FFXI and some components of FFXIV's 1.0 fishing - just that the team loves randomness and they don't really love communication). <-- all "mah feels" please don't take it as fact

For perspective during beta a lot of us fishers thought they had full intention to destroy the fisher class with the said intention of making it casual with little market value. Of course fishers were not happy to become useless financially and "just a thing to do when waiting". It was rather insulting- of course a few threads were made to ask why and if they were really meant as we read. The only response we got was pretty much saying what we had already read, and the response wasn't put into the fishing thread either. This *protest* wasn't over a short period of time, so it wasn't like "we expect a response tomorrow" lol.

Finally there has been many times over support to get a tackle-box as fisher has a lot more inventory management to do than other classes- to my knowledge no response has been made (linky please if they did, ). Which has been suggested for over a year now...


Imo, its fun to talk with other fishers - but whoever is working on fisher in SE has little desire to communicate or they haven't received it for some reason. If a rep proves me wrong right after this A.. you did that on purpose! *hurmph* B.. im still happy so please do ! lol
