If the raids/dungeons were fun people would still be doing them. If people won't do an event just because it's not the most efficient way of obtaining gear then that event is not fun. QED

I know at least 20 people off the top of my friends list that do hunts almost nonstop even though they groan and hate it. It is, by far, the most efficient way to get everything in game.
I want balance. Take stuff away from the hunts, add stuff to other content; I don't care which one they do, I just wish they would allow those of us who enjoy other content to not be penalized for it.
Absence of a reward is not a penalty. As a raider you are in absolutely no worse a position than you were pre 2.3.I know at least 20 people off the top of my friends list that do hunts almost nonstop even though they groan and hate it. Also, if your friends will pay however much a month to do something they literally *hate* they should probably 're-examine why they are playing this game. It's not healthy and it's not something SE is forcing them to do, it's their own competitiveness
Again, your reason for doing the fight should be because you enjoy it...

Absence of a reward is, in fact, a penalty given relative standing. If another option for gearing is out there, no matter how much you hate it, if the rewards are good enough, you're gonna do it. That mentality has been around since i've started mmo's(eq1) and the hamster wheel will continue to turn. The developers then have to make sure that option is balanced with the rest of the content. The ball was dropped big time on this.Absence of a reward is not a penalty. As a raider you are in absolutely no worse a position than you were pre 2.3.

As for your second point, I absolutely agree. But the raider mentality is get stronger by any means necessary. In fact, I'm examining if this game is worth my time as is.
But that's not the same thing at all. A penalty is something that has an active negative impact on you. Relative standing is just your insecurities. If there are two players in a party, A and B. And player C gives A some gear, he hasn't penalised B. This is especially true given that all PVE content in this game is cooperative. Other peoplegetting gear easier is going to make your parties easier.
Again, failing to reward is not punishment.

Yep. In a perfect world, we'd all do the fight 1000's of times daily just because they're so much fun.
Wake up. The OP complained about party finder being dead. Even if we all extremely enjoyed every primal fight and no one was ever interested in drops, party finder would still be empty. In order to get people to REPEATEDLY do these fights, there has to be more incentive other than "well you should just enjoy the fight."
This is 2014. The great chase for pixels has been around since MMO's began years ago. You should know this by now. And if you can't accept that the reason people do things is ALSO for drops, then its time to move on to something else.
Not to mention, a lot of whats referred to in this thread is old content. I did it because I enjoyed it dozens of times... months ago. I might do it once or twice cause I'm bored, but certainly not enough to constitute filling a party finder on a daily basis w/o some sort of reward.
Actually I quite like the way the game is right now. Maybe you should move on?Yep. In a perfect world, we'd all do the fight 1000's of times daily just because they're so much fun.

Why should I move on? I quite like the game too. I was just replying to your "you should do the fight cause you love it" comment. I do participate in the content I enjoy. I was explaining why you aren't going to see people doing old content without some sort of incentive. Which has basically been the case in every mmo ever.
A lot of us are players from XI where there were numerous ways to get equivalent gear for many years and, until relatively recently, old content was still popular. So, we don't take it as some kind of truism that old content must get outdated and unpopular. Why should I move on? I quite like the game too. That was a game that relied on this kind of open-world, group and community-oriented content. Which is why some of us like it.
