Yes, which is why I noted in my post that I found it's better to take a REACTIVE approach. That is, if people need help, I generally wait for THEM to speak up. As I myself have also experienced, all my DF parties when I was new, I will always ask for advice prior on any mechanic I am unsure of (even after I had researched it online). Others don't though - some generally try to "wing" it and give it their best shot with what information they have on hand. This WILL happen and you shouldn't try to twist your head if it does - just roll with it and do the best you can and let them do the best they can. You find a lot of NEW players going in for the first time ARE generally trying.

NO ONE should revert to name calling/slander, abusive chat if they see the DF instance is not passable - if you're not happy with how it's going, please respectfully state why and just vote to Abandon Duty and allow the new members try again at a later time, leaving their confidence intact - slandering them with offensive language will just have them DREAD the DF and they'll avoid it for fear of reproach.

At the end of the day if you had the minimum ilvl for the fight - which you clearly had then you were in fact geared for the fight - Ignore peoples rants about making sure you're geared up etc ... yes better gear is good - but there is a minimum ilvl for a reason - so long as you have it, you're good to go.

Sorry you're healer was annoying - there's a way to give people advice and by the sounds of it the way he handled it was not the correct way.

    Congratulations on your win!!

Putting name calling aside (because that's another issue), why would people want to keep mum about being new?

I mean, you enter this instance new. I'm sure you wanted to beat it. And there's this person here asking if there's any newbies and he could provide you some tips so that everyone can work towards a win. Why would you keep mum and go in and die aimlessly for a few rounds, wasting other people's time, before other people starts questioning you whether you are new and why are you keeping mum and wasting time?

There are a lot of new players who will be more than happy to receive tips on how to do it. I have taught an entire alliance on how to clear ST/CT2 during patch week, no problem, and did that multiple runs. But when people who absolutely have no clue but keeping quiet and wasting time, I don't think that's acceptable behaviour. If you'd like to go blind, then from a PF and play with 7 others who wanted to go blind as well. Don't try to wing your way and pretend - it's fine to waste your own time, but it's not nice to waste 7 others's.

Well I seriously don't believe the part of "we all tried to lb and in the end we won" because tanks must swap at 3 stacks to survive and tank must use lb right before 3rd Aetheric boom for party to survive. Also without superb healer the party of new players that have no idea about fight would never reach 3rd Aetheric boom.

I have done Ultima hm with half FC party to help new members get kill and it is impossible for party of new players to just simply win by doing random stuff.

    What a good story OP.
I'm sorry for the rough run but I am glad that you guys won in the end!

    ^_^
All of you newbies out there, if I meet you in DF, I will do my utmost to try and help if I am able to.
I know that I am not alone in this so don't be intimidated to say that you are new to a fight or a dungeon.

It intrigues me how people handle themselves when put in a likely losing scenario. Sure I get tired of wiping with a new party but if I have even the slightest hope for the group I'll stay.

Tell me you are new, it's OK to be. With me that buys you a barge worth of patience as long as you are at least trying. I'll gladly tell you how to deal with mechanics of a fight and not complain when you screw them up, instead tell you what I thought could be done better and how to do it.

If there is truly no hope, I offer my most sincere apologies, offer some parting advice with some encouraging words like "with just a bit of practise you'll be fine"

I don't see why it's so hard to be civil.

I’m one of those players who wants to help others out when they are struggling or seek help/additional information when dealing with certain content. In my FC i’m known for taking members to dungeons / raids and take time explaining mechanics in detail so that they understand and know what to expect.

I once started a The Binding Coil of Bahamut Learning party filled with FC Members who haven’t been to Coil once and used “official” tactics like feeding the slimes to Caduceus in Turn 1 and doing the Allagan Rot method in Turn 2. Just so that they learn the mechanics and will recognize them if they come across a similar moves in the future and act accordingly.

A lot of people freak out if something doesn’t go their way, or if they wipe because someone “is not doing his/her job”. Chances are pretty high that the person in question just doesn’t know what to expect or how to handle it. It just might be their first time in there.

I have the mindset that we were all Level 1 once and that we too had to learn how to tackle content. So, why not help by sharing the experience we have gained over time?

For example. I once queued up for a Low Level Roulette as a Tank and got into the Titan Story Mode Trail. “Ah, this is going to be a quick win.” But, i was wrong. I should’ve expected that the people who were with me in the DF were actually still progressing through the Main Story and that this was their first time in there.

Fair enough, by the time Titan jumped, smashed the arena and thus breaking off the edge of the arena, 2 out of 4 people fell down. I gave them tips on where to stand. While they didn’t follow my words to the point, they managed to dodge the first “cave in”, only to be landslid off the platform shortly after. (^_^; )

Alright, no worries. We can fix this. (^_^ ) So, more pointers were given. Even after explaining the things they could expect, the DPS (bard and black mage) were still standing as far away from Titan as they could. The healer had to walk a heal everyone and got landslid from the platform because he was casting cures. Not much was said by the other 3 party members, except for an occasional “I’m sorry.” and one “I don’t think we can make it.”, after which i reassured them that we will clear it and they just have to follow my lead.

Eventually, i literally talked them them through it, using ground marks to indicate where every one should stand and calling out when skills would appear (with sound effects), like Landslide, Weight of land and jump.

It took us almost the entire 60 minute trial period to clear it, but we did it. (^_^ )-b
    No swearing occurred.

Moral of the story, you can achieve much more with a little patience and sharing of information. It’s not the fastest way to clear content, but it’s the most satisfying one when you complete it. (^_~ )

Take a step back, relax… Enjoy the game.

Generally, my thought process is this.

Right now, I've started watching videos for some of the fights I am up to (T5 and Titan Ex), but I don't expect everyone to. I only bother because I run these as a SCH, and I refuse to end up a burden on people if I can help it. On newer things (Patch 2.3 dungeons when they went live, for instance), I will say that I am new, just in case there is something I need to know.

If I'm the only one who is not new, I tend to go over the bare basics (Crystals in Dzemael come to mind) and let the rest figure things out as we go along. If more information is needed, then I will volunteer. Actually had a really nice run of Tam-Tara HM where I didn't explain anything despite being the only person to have run it until after the fights were over, just pointing out exactly what happened in case they didn't notice. The rest appreciated the lack of spoilers.
