Chocobo knight for the win!!!!
Chocobo knight for the win!!!!
Everyone says the game needs more of a final fantasy feel, chocobos have never been able to go in towns or dungeons, which is why I say they shouldnt beable to now, we dont need chocobos in towns so dont allow it imo
Its a quite easy if/else statement in the programming, basicly if a pc is on foot allow entery else insert an invisible wall.
Or they could say if pc is on foot allow entery else open chocobo menu/prompt to dismount
Not only ^THIS but wouldn't the addition of rideable chocobos in the cities make them even laggier?Everyone says the game needs more of a final fantasy feel, chocobos have never been able to go in towns or dungeons, which is why I say they shouldnt beable to now, we dont need chocobos in towns so dont allow it imo

As far as how they would keep them out: Isn't there already a natural zoning area right outside the cities? Simply do what they did in FFXI, have the player automatically dismount at zoning points if they want to continue.
In FFXI it just zoned you back on a chocobo, to dismount while zoning you had to hit the dismount button then zone, if you were still on chocobo it would dismount you while you were zoningNot only ^THIS but wouldn't the addition of rideable chocobos in the cities make them even laggier?

It's been awhile since I have played FFXI. Either way, it is the same as what I meant. When the player hits that zone for the city, the game could just force them to dismount, losing their rental.
It would work, not sure which would need less programming because an invisible wall would need to be drawn over the gate. Either way I dont mind which tehy choose, as long as you can only ride them to the chocobo stables furthest
I only mentioned it the way I did so that we could keep immersion intact rather than just having our chocobos ramming against invisible walls.
People on the FFXIV forum have a weird way of seeing the world.
"it never happened in a previous Final Fantasy so why now?"
Um, to answer that: Maybe because that ^ is your only objection.

All the chocobo stables are currently a good bit into each city's zone. Without the benefit of the zoning-fade-to-black that we had in FFXI, I'm not sure how the Development Team will be able to pull off the actually mounting and dismounting process within cities.
The only problem I could see with chocobos in towns is limsa. There are a lot of narrow staircases/ramps there. It would be hard to get a chocobo up there.
