Novus Meld Failure - Remove Please

If you don't gather and/or craft I suggest starting if you want your Novus. If you are patient(unlike me) you could probably just gather, craft and spiritbond to get all your matiera. You'd spend basically nothing and probably gain gil in the process. Of course if you don't want to spend all that time you could simply make the gil to spend like I did...mostly. Carpentry gets you tons of $$$ right now because of personal rooms.

I was so very pissed the other day. I was on to Piety IV materia for my white mage Novus. I went in to infuse with an 80% success rate, and still lost it. That's a lot of money completely gone to waste.

Look for alternative infusions? I'm not sure why you'd expect the most ideal infusion(s) to be cheap. The community knows that ideal infusions are desirable, hence the inflated pricing for crit and det materia compared to before Novus came out.

It's not that the best should be cheap, it's that the best should be the same cost for everyone looking to take that route.

What's really frustrating with spiritbonding is that you get a very high chance of getting primary attribute materia's/elemental materias and those are useless. Everything is RNG. You can craft a whole set, left/right of DoW/DoM gear and every single one converts into lightning/water/fire materia, that is aggravating to say the least, whereas someone else doing the same thing walks away with Savage Aim III and IV's. It can get really discouraging

I feel there needs to be a line concerning RNG. It's great to have in an MMO sure, but every aspect of this game relies on RNG and it's becoming exhausting

Yes, I understand that. I got a buttload of fire 4, ice 4, etc. xD "DAMN YOU RNG GODS!" It's still a cheaper way to slowly get your Novus, regardless.

80% success rate is 80% success rate, not 100% success rate...
How are the prices on Famfrit anyway? Piety IV was at most 20k/each for my Thyrus Novus...

Could try your luck with transmutation if you have so much useless tier 4 materia. Even if you don't get the one you want, what you end up with might be sellable.

The real issue here isn't the meld success rate but the cost of materia's on the market to be able to meld a Novus (or even just gear) within a decent time frame. FOr instance, you could spiritbond every single Materia for your novus but you probably wouldnt have it completed for months to years and by then something new to replace it will be out. Or the flipside, you can buy every materia you need for Novus and be broke or forced into slave labour to pay for it :P Just saying. Materia costs need to be adjusted in some way. 200k+ for a Materia IV is alot to swallow when you are breaking them left and right trying to meld.

I wouldn't say "probably" it could be a possibility if you don't have the time nor the luck. You could also complete it in a week or two if you get lucky. It really all depends.

Good point. I did that with mine and I got at least one good one that I put in a crafting set.

Tier 4's are pretty much a luxury, they're not needed. If you can't afford it or don't want to risk it then don't. Get 3 stats and be :3
