I do believe it's too late to limit the teleporting now.

I wish the only Aetherytes were in the main hubs: Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah, Ishgard, Revenant's Toll. To get anywhere else you'd have to run from the cities to get there. It would make the less-traveled zones feel a bit more alive and therefor the game world more alive as a whole. But alas, far too late.

I don't think we need a separate currency for it. I am a bit surprised it doesn't have a cooldown, though. It seems a little backward that Return (which already has the 1 location limitation) has a cooldown, whereas Teleport doesn't. The other way around would make more sense.

    Bad analogy.
You think the manner in which the power you're using to post comments on this board and play this game was produced is good for the environment. Get over yourself.

As to the topic, please, stop trying to force what you want on everyone else. What if I said I think it should take 4 hours to travel from one city to another? Is my opinion any less valid than yours? No, because it's an opinion. You wouldn't want to be forced into 4 hours of running though just because I want it to take that long. I don't know about you, but I like choices. Soon someone will say it's not realistic that our characters don't ever have to eat, it breaks the immersion. I want my character (and of course everyone else should play how I do) to enjoy all the wonderful foods in the game. Then someone will decide if they're eating they must have to go to the bathroom or we're breaking immersion. Next thing you know we're playing The Sims.

Is the above a likely scenario? No. You know why? Because developers get really try to give people choices and not force all of them to play the way some want to play. In some instances it has to be one way or the other and in some cases usually the majority wins. In the case of traveling this game offers us a choice, several in fact.

I like teleports, but I don't try to force them on you, why do you want to force running around without them on me?

I'm a working class, married, with kids kind of guy and only a limited amount of time to play. Running from here to there delivering salad is not what I am looking to do with my time. Dont get me wrong, I love exploring and running around helping others level, but sometimes u gotta fly. Having the option is great, but if you don't like it don't use it.

Does anyone care for immersion anymore?

Yes, people still care about immersion. However, those people are not everyone.

Yes, but there is a fine line between "Immersion" and "Tedium"

I do, a lot actually, and part of that immersion is accepting that in Eorzea teleportation is a thing, but not everyone can use it because not everyone is strong enough to go through the aether plane.

Accepting game mechanics that have an in-game explanation and enjoying them is immersion, trying to make the game work like the real world isn't.

Patience young grasshopper We'll get to that 100 miles sooner than you think. Then you'll be begging for a swifter means of travel.

I think the OP is more referring to what consequences the ease of travel place on content in place, rather than what he would like to do (or see others do) personally. Difficulty in commute can have a lot of positive effects, even if not particularly well received. It would stimulate the economy, reduce RMT activity, encourage camping over exploitation... An open 'world' is less a world and more like a group of rooms that all connect to one another as it stands. And less immediate transport would undoubtedly do a lot to change that.
