So again, what's the point of this Open World MMO for you, if you don't want to traverse through it.

They only added the other modes of transportation so facilitate lore, people without much gil, and for the sake of variety. Let's be honest here regardless of how much of the world YOU wish to see we would grow tired of it just as fast anyways. The game is catered toward a casual crowd who "don't have much time to play." This means they need to be able to move across zones quickly. Say you are on your lunch break, 1hr, and you want to do something in zone B but you have to go through zones E, F, G to get to it. This is not a good design for a company who wants to retain players by keeping them in the game playing.

I know you may argue, well it would take them longer to do things but taking a long time simply due to travel is hardly fun for a majority of people. I love going outside and I run on a daily basis, irl, but it doesn't mean I want to run to the grocery store all the time when I could drive instead >_>

Hi Rokien, long time no see (since I've been a long time without coming here), good luck with your interview.

I think it is way too friendly, but I have to say when I logged in 1.0 after FFXI and WoW I felt a great relief having the ability to teleport to an area you have previously reached by other means (didn't liked the fact that there were no mounts though) so I don't agree with eliminating it completely, but I think limiting it introducing anima back or some other mechanism that would make you think twice if teleport or not as it's a limited source that can be regained really slowly would be the way to go again.

Anyway I don't feel the world dead or empty, and it may be my own way of playing but if I have the time I often chose to not teleport and go walking or even using a chocobo porter to my destination.

I think having options to enjoy the game in different ways is the way to go.

Is life to friendly when we drive around in cars?

    Always remember the Silver Rule:

I think exploring the world on foot is fun the first time you do it.

Maybe it would be the second, third and fourth.

But eventually, it wouldn't be enjoyable anymore, and little else besides an annoyance. Even XI, which thrived on having players running around danger-filled areas to get to desired locales, started pulling away from those situations as time went on.

That being said, I think the *amount* of teleports is a bit much in certain spots. Do we really need two aetherytes in Northern Thanalan, which isn't that big of a place to begin with? How about Western La Noscea, which *does* have areas cut off from each other, yet with both teleports located in the same section?

I tried a teleport when I first started the game, thought "geez, what a waste, used up gil just to get somewhere I could have as easily walked to" and promptly deleted it from my hotbars. I have used the ability a couple times since, when an FC mate needed help with something, but otherwise, I've never seen a need for it. (I do use Return, though. That's enough teleporting for me.)

Good luck on getting the job, Rokien.

    Anyway, on topic.

No. I still don't understand how others play their game affects you so much. If you feel teleporting makes the world feel small, then you are more than welcome to not use them.

Why should it only be reserved for those who don't have much time? If all you have is time to play this game, why should arbitrary travel times be forced upon you?

I don't see why people keep asking for this. No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to use the teleports. If you don't feel the world is big enough, what EXACTLY is stopping you from pressing your mount button instead of your teleport button, or just moving your character without either button? You just want to make OTHER people take longer to get somewhere? It doesn't make sense to me why anyone is asking for this.

I played XI for years, and while I enjoyed making money on teleports as a poor and destitute white mage, I definitely don't want to go back to Teleport Holla -> Autorun to San'doria. It was freaking tedious and boring and I wasn't looking in awe and wonder at the world around me... I was AFK making something to eat or using the wash closet while my character ran.

I agree with bringing back anima. I think that would be the best solution for solving this "world's too small" syndrome. Aside from housing, Gil is useless and mainly for convience so throwing it away teleporting everywhere makes it easy. With Anima, you would need to manage your teleporting better. Also make it so you have to click on the glowy entrance to the dungeon you want to queue for would also make people travel around more.

That's a limitation that I would be down with as well. Put one main crystal in each city area or two would be fine as well.
