That's all fine and dandy your first pass. we did new hms blind on release. Enjoyed the story and scenerays. Took us a some wipes till strat was found. But that time has passed. Hard stops on hull don't effect me much but if this reduces the OMFG I LIKE RLY HATE SR. Then more power to you all.I'm a massive lore nerd so I can only welcome this change. I was so psyched the first time I did WP as a Scholar because, well duh, only to be rushed through it and not be given the time to enjoy it. Speed runs are all well and good but to be honest, if you only want to rush through the content without taking in any of the fun stuff that makes a dungeon interesting (new mechanics, story and the camaraderie of playing with a group) then perhaps you shouldn't be playing an MMORPG...
Secret world does this. It's pretty fun, I wish XIV had dungeons like it (And usually there's some kind of narration, a la the battle wardens in guildhests).
As for SRs... Honestly, I doubt Squeenix would have done this if so many speedrunners didn't try to force it on people that didn't want to do them (with a generally bad attitude and votekick abuse to go with it). As it is... bed, lie in it XD
I welcome this because I don't want to speed run all the time with randoms. Some times it's just nice to take an easy pace.
Ironic how you comment about not speedrunning on the new "speedrun" dungeon.
The problem is the time spent:reward ratio. Some dungeons are just too damn long. They designed 5 man dungeons but instead put 4 players in them. Losing that 1 extra DPS slows the entire thing down - and dungeons taking excess of 30 minutes really is too much. There wouldn't be any speed runs at all if dungeoning were designed better. I never saw anything like this in Rift or WoW, just here.
God forbid we play a game as it's developers designed it...
You want to know why all these dungeons are designed with these limitations in it?
Because the Devs looked at what we did in the last patch and thought, "well, they are kinda circumventing all the trash we put in it. we need to design it so they can't do that."
So they put barriers every so often so you can't pull large groups up monsters. Because a lot of people hate large pulls the egotistical tanks(aka I can take all the damage in the world) put them through but go with it because they are DPS and it takes them forever to queue and they don't want to wait around anymore.
And they put barriers before ALL the bosses so you can't lock out the monsters anymore, skipping the content the devs worked at designing into their dungeons.
they put these in to stop people from exploiting content.
The boss fights don't take any longer then they did for 2.2 as long as everyone knows what they are doing.
Nocturne of the Gods
Kiu mondo estis nomita Vana'diel. Nia mondo, Vana'diel.
Really. what is with wanting to get to the end game boss so fast? Everything rush this, rush that..seriously?
It seems people really don't enjoy playing the game and are only interested in getting to the loot. Things go down at a decent rate so long as you know what you are doing. The new dungeons are actually very well designed and its obvious a lot of effort was put into making them. I can understand running through the dungeons at warp speed in mythflox, but now that huntflox has taken over that mantle, just run the dungeons for what is is and have fun.
Really good to see communities reaction to this thread
Before patch there were at least 4-5 threads a week complaining about being forced to SR, after patch that all died down, and now that first thread complaining about not being able to SR the new duties on the same scale as BFHM, seems whole community has backlashed against it... hmm, wonder if that's any indication to what the MAJORITY of the playerbase wants.
GG SE, keep it up
