Wildstar just released for example.... its content is already harder and already has raids in place, this challenges people for months on end and more will be added. this is how you keep a competitive community alongside "the people with lives" .... oh and... guess what our friends guild's raiding schedule is? 3 hours a night for 3 nights...
Stop pretending raiders play 8 hours a day... this game has been out a year. in that time its had NINE TURNS..... I can't even count all of them as a big deal even.

It needs to be expanded on dramatically at this point... we are just getting spammed with back-wards progression 4 mans...
there is loads of small fluff content now, isn't it time Square ... actually met the competition in the competitive end-game department? 4 turns in 6 months is not good enough... everything added except turns 5-9 are not progression in the competitive sense... simply catch up filler.
- Why are there not more 8 man dungeons?
- Why isn't gear becoming more creative with stats?
- Why is there no COMPETITIVE 24-man dungeon instead of a casual Crystal Tower experience (though I like that too)
I understand, the game was very limited on launch, but it seems now, or at least the expansion, if they want to keep the core too... they need to get up to speed with this.... the end-game is shallow.
If anything regarding their release of content is going to change it's going to be post-expansion. In the meantime, expect the same Crystal Tower, Binding Coil atlernations between patches for Raids, couple of new dungeons, new primal and extras we've been getting up until this point. Let me also give you my take on those questions:
1) There is no need to have 8 people in a party to make a dungeon harder or more entertaining. If anything, dungeons should be kept at light party because they fill up faster.
2) Although I wouldn't mind it, we all know the everyone will end up using the same gear anyways just like we are right now. As long as there is a stat that is more beneficial than the other, this will be useless. Just go look at the Novus build threads or most of FFXI.
3) Competitive? Like a PvP dungeon?
If they listened to people like the OP we'd still be in FFXIV 1.0

... PVP is a separate entity, when typically referring to Eng-Game Progression in this sense, its about PvE. Competitive-PvE ... Turns 6-9 for example. but by any game's standard... just turns 6-9 is incredibly shallow especially when it has to last 6 months.
Note, I have nothing against all the content added thus far. but lets be reasonable now.... how many more steam rolled 4 mans can they add each patch instead of content to actually challenge us? even if its parrellel to coil not an extention or upgrade.
At this point everything is in place to suit the players looking for a more casual experience. now they need to reign in those that are looking for a comeptitive PvE experience... I don't how what I say is unreasonable or warrants half the stupid white-knighting responses I have recieved... as if I've attacked their way of life.
i think you're exaggerating the number of people who actually want this content. and too many different sets of high-end gear is going to create huge gaps between the playerbase which SE doesn't want, for good reason.what I don't understand is, why have we not seen any 8 mans (so at least Hullbreaker Isle could of been more interesting and varied in mechanics ... and abit more challenging for example.) raiders will argue you can't make things interesting enough with 10 man, let alone 4.... making more and more 4 mans at this point seems absolutely redundant... it doesn't challenge anyone whatsoever.

I see there is a need to be "casual or die" mentality here.... with very poor reasons not to agree to this.
for what good reason exactly? PVP has its own gear. gear gained in PvE now is just to progress further up. what is this good reason?
