Long long ago Yoshi was asked about this kind of stuff and he said he didn't want anything to be available to some but not others because you couldn't make it to an event, that's why instead of people beating Titan back in the day didn't get items, they drew a server name out of a bag and everyone on that server got the items. I guess they think this event is accessible to everyone because they are having it in three different countries.
