I can't remember if tumult is magic damage or not but you can use Eos's magic defense buff to prevent incoming huge magical damage and have your party take less damage than they would have without, making it easier for you to heal up before anymore serious damage comes next. You can use Eos's heal buff and aoe regen for incoming raid wide damage that is either one huge single chunk or repeated aoe stomps and the party can come out nearly unscratched after the attack finishes.

You can manage selene's skill speed and spell speed manually for a dps boost at the right times; if your party dps is 3/4 physical and there's this set of adds that needs to die quickly, you can hit skill speed buff as the adds pop up or vice versa with magic. Sometimes one extra hit makes a big difference (sahagin mage in leviathan extreme needs to die before he casts anything silly).

Tried healing Titan with two scholars? How do you heal thru stomps if you can't do effective AoE healing? Hope that WD goes off at the right time, or spam Succor for 150 potency heals to top everyone off?

i used to use sic also, until i noticed that Selene would use the SS and SkS buff at the same time, even tho they cant stack from one sch. is both of those buffs being used and one being wasted bad? very much so. is the sch who fails to notice this, or when this is noticed, does nothing to stop it bad? in most peoples eyes, yes.

To be fair, you made it sound like you don't use obey, because you said you never use her abilities manually. I did misunderstand, and I see now you said you use the abilities via macro (which does imply she is on obey after all). I dunno what those macros are, but I could see it working, I guess?

    lol

The guy who said he doesn't use obey is a bad scholar. If you want to be bad, you can listen to him. Or you can listen to the other dozen people who all told you to use obey. Why even make this thread if you're going to ignore the overwhelming consensus?
You can't use the macros he suggested to use if Eos or Selene isn't on Obey anyways

I only recently started manually controlling EoS, to see what all the fuss was about being bad if you don't. Yes it's handy to have WD, FI, under control. But having tried numerous macros around on the web, the one that makes me laugh like a drain and which quickly made an exit from my hotbar is the Physick/Embrace one. You people really use that? seriously? Don't give me the "oh but it gives you a 700 potency heal"....haven't you ever noticed that if you find the need to cast Physick on a target...you can be sure she's casting Embrace at the same time.

So my answer to OP is, play how you find it most comfortable. If your healing is better/greater than other surrounding Scholars/WHMs and other folks comment on that, and people search you out for raids/groups, you can be sure you're doing it right. As the foregoing comments apply to before I started controlling her, I guess if you know your class, you'd be fine not controlling her

Oh and if people don't die, you are NOT a bad Scholar.

Dungeons I let her do as she pleases. For endgame she's always on obey. Its easier than it looks so don't be to worried

You know, by your logic, the option to NOT to have to control Eos also exists for a reason. ^.^

Anyway, basically commanding Eos of course gives you more power, and I suppose especially in endgame people really want everyone to push out their absolute maximum potential. I don't do endgame things myself though and having Eos on automatic has never gotten any of my parties killed in regular dungeons.

So basically, you can do what you find most comfortable, really. However make sure you know what kind of crowd you are hanging out with. If you know they are the..demanding type, maybe you need to conform. Good luck!

for eos, the answer is a MUST.. but for Selene, the asnwer is it's optional.. sometime i just let my Selene to do anything that she want because when i put her on Obey, sometime i just forget to click Fey Glow or Few Light.. or Selene probably can silence something important too automatically.. (actually it's very hard to silence manually by using Selene).. but i usually will switch between Sic and Obey when using Selene..
