Honestly, when I was a Scholar, the only commands I ever used was Place and Heel. That's it. Rare is it that the Scholar needs the faeries beside them, and even then it's not for the Scholar's benefit. Aside from that I usually let her do her own thing, I was busy enough as is or I was moonlighting in the low levels where the faerie can literally carry the party leaving you to DD. Yeah, if that makes me lazy then lazy I be. Bad... okay, I have to fess to that, too. I was never able to beat Pharos as Scholar, which is still a benchmark on a healer's effectiveness even after the nerf.

When I'm tanking it is such a pain when the scholar has Eos on sic. She randomly blows all her CD and will pull hate with aoe heals. Please keep her in obey. Her AI is just not good enough to allow her to do this.

There is absolutely no reason for you to not manually control your pet.
Think of it this way, would you Aetherflow => 3x lustrate all in a row? Or macro physick to a key and just turbo controller that macro? This is what Eos / Selene is doing. CD comes up, uses all skills immediately.

It's incredibly inefficient and if you want to get the best of out the tools you are given, you will do them by yourself.

Not for Selene, she will alternate the 2 dances ( which can't be activated at the same time ) and manualy using her silence is almost impossible.

That's a good point. So I'd revise my previous statement to exclude Selene.

    1) Eos on Obey is best
    2) Selene on Sic is best

    Reasoning;

    1) Not using important skills at times when they are worthless for example, Megaflare in Second Coil of Bahamut: Turn 4 requires that you Shield + Illumination + Covenant for increased healing and maximum magic defense. What if you don't have those? Enjoy the full (or nearly full brunt of that attack).

    2) Manually controlling Fey Glow and Light is pretty annoying to make sure you get them off as soon as they come off CD, especially if you're focused on getting people from dead. Selene's silence is bad anyway, unreliable at best.

I manually use her silence correctly all the time...where are you finding it nearly impossible to do so?

To the OP: obey is not a "must". It just makes things easier imo and improves healing performance.

Maybe it's my Selene that's not responsive to my orders, but the fairies always takes 5 secondes to do what i tell them to do ( except if she is not doing anything at the moment, but if she wants to heal someone, she will do it before listening to your order ), so unless you predict the move you must silence, it's very hard.

(Long sigh) Why is everyone bashing OP?

He (she?) stated he's level 45-46, where people are getting the hang of the game and learning how to deal with more and more complex mechanics. At that level, you shouldn't worry about your fairy, but instead focus more on yourself. Absolutely no point learning to micro-manage Eos when the scholar himself has difficulty surviving.

After you get the hang of the mechanics and survival, you start to focus on your fairy, which is at around Titan HM, the first point where your fairy may matter ("may" being the operative word here).

Yes, you need to learn how to micro-manage your Eos for raids and such. But leave it for later. A scholar that leaves the fairy as she pleases but does his job keeping tank up is a decent scholar; but a scholar who is pro at micro-managing fairy but doesn't know how to prep the tank for big hit is a piece of s***.

    Sample 'fairy' lesson plan:
Dzemael darkhold - learn to position your fairy
Titan HM - learn to manage Eos' skills
T5 - learn to maximize fairy potential

If there's a delay, sometimes it's because Selene will need to move to cast her silence. Her cast range seems to be a good deal shorter than ours, but if you've placed her properly she casts right away.

No, that's not it, sometimes i ask Eos to cast a spell and while she has nothing on CD she will first use her heal, then my spell, because she planned to use her heal first, so that makes lose precious time to counter the spell. So i usually use their CD before it's actually needed because of that delay.
