However, from what I've watched they also have a system that rewards you for taking the long route.

Things that could happen in the future:
You can still use your Anima to get where you're going

    OR

You can take the long route, notice a platoon of Garlean soldiers camping near one of the Eorzean camps, and you are given the option to take up a quest that allows you to inform a VIP at the friendly camp so that they can make preparations for battle, or be on guard. The camp is indebted to you for the information, so you receive a reward (gil or SP, whichever).

What SE needs to do is to stop restricting and start rewarding on the other side of the fence. Same thing with Fatigue/Surplus and I believe I saw a post stating they plan on giving rested experience for when people are logged off for a certain amount of time. They are taking away what restricts us from being able to play how we want.
I want a Thalanian (however you spell it) Zolom, Id so run/walk to fight that....or teleport to the closest camp then run/walk to it /sarcasm or just random enemy encounters to pop up along the roads to various places, just to shake it up

edit: Btw does Limsa havea airship dock? or is it one of those locked off places?
