Chaos Thrust is Worthless!

Currently, ID and HT are the only two true combo skills in the game that have positional requirements. MNK doesn't have true combos, PLD and WAR combos are position-neutral, and BRD has no combos at all. Not sure if there's a place that properly shows this oddity of DRG, but it's pretty much based on DRG having the only combo abilities that have positional bonuses.

Okay, maybe I'm a total idiot but is there anywhere in the game that says Impulse Drive has to hit from behind for the combo to work? That's not how it works for any other combo (even MNK positionals) and it took me reading the forums to figure out that was how this particular combo works (luckily I found out BEFORE I got Disembowel). I've read the tooltip over and over and nothing about it seems to say the positional is mandatory, even thought it very obviously is in practice.

Nevermind Diesembowel, why would you not be doing ID from behind in the first place :/

The question should b us why not use HT>ROT combo n the first place when it's a SR....FYI there are 18 to 19 total on that first pull before the first boss. I lov seeing 1k to 1.3k on every one that's within my aoe when I do DD.

There's nothing written specifically that you have to hit from behind for the combo to work. However, you should have known from Vorpal Thrust that it gets its combo effect when there's a rotating square thing around it. Thus, anytime you don't see it on Disembowel, it's not counted as combo so the logical thing to try would be try to get it hit from behind for maximum potency.

I find Heavy Thrust is a worthless skill the description says it increases my damage by 15%, however whenever I use it I never get the buff.

I think most people are trying to get it to hit from behind, but if for some reason you miss the positional due to mob movement and the attack still lands there's no obvious in-game reason (especially if you leveled another melee class before LNC/DRG) why you couldn't follow up with Disembowel anyway. Based on other melee classes, taking the DPS loss and moving on to the rest of your combo makes more sense than repeatedly trying to land ID from the rear. I happened to level DRG last of the 8 classes so the change was especially glaring to me.

Yeah, and I never hit that confusion because I read it on the forums first. But I think a lot of DRGs who don't read the forums are ignorant of the fact... =/

Put on some glasses and read the tool tip.

If you read it very carefully, and if there is a spark of intelligence, you might be able to put 2 and 2 together and figure out how to get the buff; and not come to such a scrubby conclusion.
