Said this plenty now, but that's something they should have addressed months ago. PvP has been dead in the water since launch (or close enough), they should have made it more appealing in the months following, not pushing Frontlines under the bus to try and save PvP now. People have been begging for new game modes in Wolves Den since launch, they did nothing. People begged for skills to be more accessible, they did it at the last possible minute. People begged them to make the grind more tolerable, they still refuse to change it. It's inane.
No real sense lamenting what they could, and should, have done I guess. Though they could still put Frontlines behind a Rank requirement and fix the grind up a bit. Then there is a clear sense of progression and anyone coming into Frontlines should have been able to obtain some gear by the time they can enter.
Another thing that gets me is that comment Yoshida made ages ago;
OK. Lets accept that for a minutes. You do Frontline to get into PvP, and that's some how going to make you want to try out Wolves Den? Why? Is anyone going to go "Oh look at this guy, he has the R40 gear that does absolutely nothing here" and lust after it for anything over than vanity?Front Line which is planned for release in patch 2.3 (battle between 3 teams) is probably good place to try out PvP before getting into the real PvP. PvP is not limited to 24 players, there may be much more.
Literally the only hope I have left now is that the comment about Frontlines having the same rewards +tomestones can be taken literally, as in; Wolves Den = ~1m match for xEXP/Marks, Frontlines = 30m for xEXP/Marks +the same tomestones as 1 daily quest. But again, seeing as you'll see PvP progression doing nothing in Frontlines, why would it then be something you want to go after? Wolves Den didn't draw those people in, and it still wont. With progression destroyed as it now is, why would people suddenly want to progress? If it was a case of "Do Wolves Den to R25, then enter Frontlines to R40", it could have been perfect...
