Not exactly true. It seems to me like (if you watched the post Leviathan cutscene) Rogue is what became when the Ninja girl was talking to the thieves about merging their fighting styles into one. It's extremely believable that the two classes that fused their fighting style (Thief and Ninja) will be the two specializations of said fused class (Rogue).

The only disappointment this brings to me is I just plain don't see the point in 2 dps branching from a single class.. The reason SCH and SMN work well from ACN is because one is forced to choose a stat to put points into, making the other not be your focus. Seems odd to me that you could have a single stat dump and essentially support two jobs with one class (minus some gear)

Jobs don't have guilds. Classes do. Theres no paladin guild. The paladins decided to start teaching their style to select individuals. Theres no Scholar guild. A matter of circumstances led you to your fairy. This can be said about every job in the game. All it takes is some single person offering to teach you in the art of Thievery based on you skillset.

It's not a dead job. Rogues came from Thieves. It's in their backstory. There's nothing to teach, they are all for all intents and purposes reformed thieves. The Scholar comparison isn't even close, Scholars didn't evolve into Arcanist. The Scholar art was just lost, and the Arcanists were the only ones astute enough to find it (actually it was a warrior but whatever).

Stop speaking in certainties @.@ This is what made the scholar debate out of hand during 2.0's launch. I'm not -certain- THF is coming, I'm just telling you how its still viable with the way the game works. We're arguing over something neither of us know for sure, so lets get back on topic of gunner, which is what this threads about.

I'm curious about what the gunner class would become. I think Corsair is too much like BRD and Blue Mages with blue bullet abilities would be a bad choice right now despite how much I love BLU. We just don't need another DPS atm. Only other Job I can think of that has ever used a gun in FF is chemist, which could be a welcome 3rd healer.
