Huh no gunner preview?

An old Master THF NPC, who left the Rogues guild long ago, in order to secretly maintain the arts of the THF (Steal, Mug, etc.) seeks an apprentice to pass them on to before he gets too old. Just one simple way of implementing a THF job that I thought up in 5 seconds. Have some creativity. Theres no reason THF can't be a job based on the current "Rogues used to be thieves" lore.

Much as the new class and job looked great, where is my damned musketeer? Four years, four long years since I gave up my corsair in xi and joined XIV with it's damned MUSKETEER GUILD in limsa. Still no gun.
At this point it is incredibly strange not to have musketeer. We have a whole city of people running around looking like corsairs. It's a constant slap in the face for all of us who have been waiting for this since first walking in to 1.0 Limsa.

We still have two more events... one today and one tomorrow. Don't give up hope yet. I doubt they'd play all their cards at the beginning of the game so to speak.

"Rumors about the Musketeer class were swirling around before Rougue was announced. We asked why it's not Musketeer. Yoshida explained that they wanted a class with stealth ability, and most importantly, it's because of the implement of new PvP content and the developer wanted to make sure that something new will be brought in. So Rogue will have its own way of participating in PvP and he will have unique tactics as well. So now, as Yoshida said, they want to start with Rogue instead of a class with guns which will be similar to mage class that uses magic, but he mentioned they did have the plan to introduce in new class with guns or sort of stuff. And speaking of how stealth will work in PvP, Yoshida said it's a secret at the moment."

Final Fantasy has six iconic jobs: White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, Warrior, Monk, and Thief. Four of these jobs are represented as jobs in FFXIV. It will be a disservice if Red Mage and Thief are never added. It would also be beyond surprising if either job was added as a CLASS, since none of the four other jobs is a class in this game: they are all jobs that evolve out of other classes.

So, it is no surprise that there is no Thieves' Guild, and instead is a Rogues' Guild comprised of former Thieves. It would also be unsurprising if, in the future, a Thief job were to be added that evolves from the Rogue class, patroned by adventurers who seek to use the less savory skills the Rogues left behind them in an effort to be accepted by polite society.

It is too early to pass judgment either way, but if Red Mage and Thief are never added, it will be a slap in the face to Final Fantasy veterans.

Based on your interpretation of "iconic jobs" you're referring to the available classes from FF1, in which case it is actually White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, Fighter (Not Warrior), Monk (or Black Belt), and Thief. These then became White Wizard, Black Wizard, Red Wizard, Knight, Master, and Ninja. That last one suddenly makes more sense now right?
