You can't seriously be suggesting that the introduction of one new weapon category would negatively affect the economy of an entire server. At most, the only thing that would be affected is the overall price of the weapons themselves as crafters attempt to take advantage of the new player rush and try to sell the weapons at fairly high prices, which would only last for a short time before the prices fell due to supply and competition. The only thing else that might be affected is the cost of the materials to make said weapons, but even that's a stretch, as gathering materials are very easily obtainable.
Lack of interest in Tanks and Healers is part of the issue, but having an unbalanced ratio of classes per role is the main issue here. Not only that, the popularity of the DPS classes being several of them iconic FF classes (as DRG, MNK, BLM) pulls even more population towards them. What we saw on the first weeks and even month of game, considering many ppl was leveling tanks and healers will repeteat again and become even worse. Party has a balance of 2-1-1. If roles do not keep that ratio, DF issues will be always a problem.

Just for example, if instead of adding another DPS we added another Tank or a Healer, we will also make DF even worse because we will be breaking the balance ratio which is determined by the party size and configuration. For things to properly work, we need 1 more DPS, 1 more Tank and 1 more Healer. Adding any of those individually will just make things worse, and adding a DPS class, and that DPS class being one of the most iconic FF classes of all time on top of that, will make DF go kaput.

And FATE grinding is always an option, since everyone loves FATE grinding since launch, and they loved the ATMA and now the Alexandrite FATE farm, such quality of life.
And the server economies will be hit hard with overpricing, overflow of craft, and high demand of materials for said crafts, as if every update markets go crazy and become terrible, add to it that now everyone will be wanting the same items, it will just collapse.

How hard is to understand a new DPS implemented alone right now is a terrible idea and is just doomed to failure right off the bat? 2 hours queues, FATE grind beyond comparison, horrible leveling experience overall, no place in high end because the high ammount of players being the same class, yes, it is a ninja, it is new, we all want it, but delivered this way, is just a mistake.

Now, if we get a pack of, lets say, Ninja (DPS), Samurai (Tank) and Oracle (Healer) (i put those 3 just to keep the Oriental influence of the classes, it could be anything as long as they fill the roles) and we finally balance the DF ratio to match the party setup ratio in a nice 6-3-3 balance ratio, everything will run smoothly. DF is doomed to be always a longer wait for DPS than other classes, thats a given... But one thing is to wait a few minutes and another thing is to wait hours while doing braindead, booring, repetitive and uninmersive FATE grind.

The class ratio only holds water provided there is an even split among the existing player base, which we all know is not the case. There are always dps, having another is really just a drop in the overflowing bucket. The people hit the hardest by the evil queue time stick are going to be, you guessed it, the throngs of green rogues out there. People are still going to be people playing the tank classes they truly love, and these folks have been providing content access to the multitudes of dps. It isn't the alleviation that throwing in a new tank would provide, but your concerns are severely overstated. A bell curve trend of early adopters, mainstream, and sluggards will emerge, and many and more of the former will be you know who, transient dps. The DF will not grind to a halt, I assure you.
This is not launch, for launch there were a variety of classes to choose from. In this case NIN is the "new shiny thing". And just as the maps become full with people grinding FATEs, a good chunck of the population will be pulled towards the NIN, and DF is not prepared to work with 5 DPS classes... Adding another one is not smart. Yes, of course not everyone will be playing NIN, thats a given.

Is as simple as to go and DF for a while in a DPS class right now things are cold and "everyone is spreaded" between classes. You already have to wait 15 to 30 minutes to get called in low level content. That alone tells whats gonna happen when NIN comes arround.
