If I can be lazy and do nothing while still being able to do my job 100% (healing) then you can bet your ass that I'll do just that.Yeah for you, not for the other three people that have to slag through a longer boring run while you leech off their work so you can Alt-tab and do stuff that I'm sure they wish to do too. I'm honestly surprised so many people actually support this, if you actually do this you're no different than low-lvl an pvp bots imo and I would vote kick you without question. Fortunately I main healer so I've never had the luxury of dealing with a SCH follow bot, but if they're anything like bard/ tank bots I've had to deal with I can understand why OP is annoyed.
I'm guilty of doing lower level dungeons on sch and letting Eos and Selene do all the work. I don't regret it.
So, selfish then. At least you're honest about it.
If you expect me to go all out and carry you with both heals and DPS for the sake of "efficiency", you'd better unequip your job crystals and put in cure, physick, stoneskin, provoke, etc as your cross class skills too.
Exactly. Like what I said earlier, healer's job icon is green. It's design to HEAL. Anything else is a bonus and people should learn to appreciate it instead if that stupid entitled attitude.
If that green icon needs to something out of it's designed routine, then all the rest better put in something extra too. For the sake of efficiency right? Tanks please off your tank stance and deal more DPS please. DPS please self heal from time to time, don't waste your MP so your green icon team mate can continue to DPS and heal the blue icon not on tank stance a little more.
Don't say it's not do-able thou. Defiance is not really needed outside coil. My WAR is i84 cos I am using i70 DPS accessories. Holding single target and AoE hate easily. There are a few times I've tanked dungeons like Haukke Manor HM with a Sword Oath PLD till the last boss before realizing that I wasn't on Shield Oath, I told the team and every one was lol'n cos no one noticed a difference.

Exactly. Anything a healer does beyond healing in a PuG is a bonus to the team. Kicking a healer for not DPSing(in DF) is an abuse of the system. And just because a healer is only healing with Eos doesn't mean he's AFK. So kicking him without confirming he's AFK could be an abuse of the system. as well.
Don't get me wrong, I DPS in low level dungeons as a healer. Not because the rest of my team is entitled to it, only because I want it to go quicker.
As a tank I NEVER stop using skills while fighting mobs. Is it really too much to expect the same from the rest of my party?
You had the answer yourself. The word you used is expect. That is your expectation.
What I want to establish is that given that it is a design flaw from SE to allow EoS to enter under lvl 30 dungeons and thus allowing a lvl synced SCH to pet heal only, a SCH who does so is playing within the rules of the system. So does a WHM who just heals only and doesn't deal any DPS. It is allowed. Their job is healer, their icon is green, and thus the only job they had to do is heal. They will only get punished by GMs for refusing to heal, not refusing to DPS or do anything else. Period. This is a fact, not anyone's opinion.
People needs to get this clear in their mind.
I have never said or encouraged that everyone needs to play this way. There are many healers who would go the extra mile to deal some DPS to speed up the dungeon. This is their choice and they have to full rights to choose whether they want to or not. You don't force your values, opinions nor expectations on them in a PuG. If you have a strict expectation or code of conduct, play with your friends/LS/FC.
When you enter a PuG, you should enter with a mindset that only the minimum applies. You don't expect T8/T9 clear grade players to always appear in DF, nor you expect a one shot clear. Expecting all these things only set you into unnecessary unhappiness when you don't get them. When I do mythflox I can do it 5mins and under easy - is it really too much to expect it from my party when I go DF? You see what I mean?
Know what is really allowed by system and what is not - not your own views an opinion. In that way you are able to clearly differentiate which players are good, which players goes the extra mile and be appreciative of them.
This community needs more of this instead of thinking that almost everything done good should be a given.
I'm surprised that the topic had been derailed and misinterpreted very badly. First and foremost, this topic is about the follow feature being used in low levelled dungeons as a means to AFK to get the full reward with minimal effort - and not the fact that the healer does not want to dps.
I can understand the stance that those low levelled dungeons are boring as heck, but even so, I try to at least contribute some effort to make the run go faster, sometimes have a nice chat with the other players (which is pretty nice when they respond, imo). Not that I support healers having the requirement to dps, because even I don't dps from time to time. Lul.
I just don't support the fact that you can just set it to follow and do nothing while your pet heals. Some interaction or acknowledgement that you are there would be nice (even some movement to show you're at the keyboard/controler is good enough!) - rather than just watching you do absolutely nothing but auto-follow.
But know that you've wandered into a zone of Meta-philosophy which poses the exact same straight gates as these two more-recognizable scenarios -
"It's not illegal. But it's morally and ethically wrong."
"It's the law. But it's morally and ethically wrong to comply."
Having a feature marked as known/acceptable from the developer's POV, still doesn't make it right to use the feature.
I'm just using the person I was replying too failed logic, I am dpsing, auto attack will kill the mob albeit very slow, dragging out the healers(and everyone's run just like the healer is doing). Anything more is a bonus, ig the healer can't be bothered then why should I?
