Cool, tough mechanics you'd like to see in future fights

I just thought it'd be cool to make more use of enmity. Say there is a main tank tanking boss. An off tank tanking a couple of adds. And then two special adds that can't be tanked properly but still have an aggro bar. Kinda like fireball and iceball, you have to get hit by one then the other. So the DPS guys have to manage their aggro to not get killed and kind of switch aggro meters around. For example, a DRG just got hit by fireball. But iceball targeted the whm, and no the DRG has to steal aggro while whm stops heals, and other DPS will use this opportunity to attack other enemies.

I will most likely be told to burn in hell for suggesting this, but not so much mechanics wise but more fight wise, I would love a triad fight against titan, ifrit. Garuda, like was hinted at in the Garuda cutscene, yeh it know ultima HM has them but that's more their essence, I'd love to have an arena style fight against all three at same time

Weakness and resistances like in turn 4 and all the other ff games, fire heals fire, high physical low magic resistance ect, make it a tactical dungeon.

I think random enmity resets could be cool, and really fit the game.

I was watching the E3 Sony conference yesterday and was quite intrigued by the dragon fight in the new Dragon Age trailer. Rather than just saying "something like that", I would like to point out that FFXIV has all of the components to make an - in my opinion - extremely interesting "choose your own phase" style fight. The first component would be having multiple targets per enemy; which we have, but has not really seen the light of day very often. The second component would be the fight phase mechanic that is already liberally sprinkled throughout FFXIV.

Functionally, the order which you killed the targets (body parts) would dictate the boss' behavior (phase). This could be leveraged to make a challenging, robust fight that still allowed for multiple unique party constructions. In practice, we have already seen similar mechanics from fights like T2 and T4, but the scale is slightly different and in many ways a side effect rather than the intent.

For example, let us imagine a fight with a towering clockwork abomination. In the front is mounted a large cannon, protected by a magic resistant field. The generator is above the field, but out of range. The front legs, back legs, cannon, generator, and head are target-able. In order to defeat the clockwork, only a sufficient amount of damage need be done to his cogs and gears (defeat 3 components). Attacking and killing the front legs will cause the clockwork to fall forward, making the generator target-able (within range), while also making the head capable of reaching players, unleashing dangerous extra melee attacks on the tank. Defeating the hind legs will cause the clockwork to topple backwards, exposing the head which takes many times the damage from all sources. Because the clockwork is on it's back, however, it's cannon begins shooting indiscriminately into the air, carpet bombing the arena with napalm a la T5.

This is, of course, an off the cuff example and I would not expect a fight like the one above. Rather, as you can see above, something where the flow of the fight can be tailored by the group to fit their current play style. By making the kill condition a number of targets instead of a specific one, it opens up more options for the party, while each kill order presents unique challenges and advantages that may suite different people at different times.

They should have an updated Titan fight where periodically, half a dozen kobolds show up carrying lengths of garden hose and pick one person to start beating on. They're untargetable and can't be killed, but repeated AoE will knock them off the platform for a while.

Moogle EX has it. The marauder and gladiator moogle will randomly reset aggro.

Never fought Moogle Ex, only HM, but it should be more common, the hate resets in FFXI made for some really funny moments.

A 4 minute gauntlet run where the group must carry an egg/bomb/goobbue through the gauntlet. The goal is not so much killing the mechanics but simply stalling/diverting/incapacitating them while on the move.

    Always remember the Silver Rule:
"Treat others as they treat you!" ...or something like that.

That would make for an awesome alliance fight.

Each full party does each primal like they normally would.

Yet gotta time their moves so it doesn't hurt the other alliance and cause a wipe.

    Titan's geocrush will hurt Ifrit.
    Ifrit's Hellfire will hurt Garuda.
Garuda's Aerial Blast will hurt both

    unsafe

Try and get titan to Table Flip the other Primals
Use the plumes to explode on the other Primals.
Hit the other primals with Ifrit's Eruption.
