    All summons in every FF game besides XI lasted 10-60 secs and cost a lot to summon. It was a nice but rare occasion to use them or at least was meant that way. In XI there was the perp costs (for those who never played XI basically they cost mp/tic until you completely drained your mp and they disappeared because you couldn't sustain them anymore).

    People would never accept any of the above in XIV because thats the way the market is going. people barely accepted the perp costs in XI even back then so it will be even worse now! If the full primals were summoned by every smn in XIV, at any point and with no real cost for it, they would get cheap very very fast.

    My 12-year-old self would love to see fully summoned primals 24/7 but being older than that I can safely say it'll get boring, so I'm glad they left the primals as "lesser spirits" and are keeping the full summons as one-time deals. They are planning on the FC primal summon idea which is incredibly like the old FF games, except for the whole multiplayer aspect, but that's what you get for playing an mmo

    In FF8 the summons (or rather, GFs) were pretty much bread and butter. And in X, and Tactics. They were just like regular moves that looked fancy. So I could see the desire for having more detailed summons because FF is kind of known for summoning to be fairly grand, even when they were just basic moves, like for summoners in FF Tactics.

    Not all of them were short either, the FF8 GF Eden had like a 3 or 4 minute summon scene, I used to get up and get a snack while I summoned it. lol

    Well the OP is right. I never really personally played summoner but what was the point of them half-arsing the avatars? They focused everything else to be detailed. Hell even he minions look more detailed.

    I think you are forgetting to include X and XIII in that. Esper-Terra in FF6, which is semi-summon. Not sure about 8,9 and 12... Can't remember those that much.

    Knights of the Round was fairly long in FFVII also if I remember correctly.
