    That thing never works >_>

And disembowel doesn't only aid bards, it helps you too. And Arm of the Destroyer is like a ghetto silence as a last resort. It's just about as reliable as Selene's.

Plus the fact that the Drg class requires a lot less skill than the monk class. . . .well "a lot less" may be an exaggeration but it certainly requires next to no thought on rotations.
Monk should do more damage than a drg. . . because they're better :3

Wyverns aren't Dragoon's traditional pet. No dragoon in the entire series, until XI, has had a Wyvern.

DRG also can equip the 2nd highest defensive gear in the game. For the sake of balance they better be behind MNK in raw DPS output.

False. They have the highest physical defense and in return the lowest magical defense (which is far more important because most AOEs in this game deal magic dmg). Drgs are actually very squishy because of that.

I agree with everyone in this thread but you. You should worry less about your own number and more about your raid number. DRG is not as bad as you make it out to be, maybe people just don't want you. Ever thought about it that way?
Mantra: MNK Mantra is 20% compared to DRG 5%. If your raid needs the extra 15% to pass, consider up your healer's game.
Arms of the Destroyer: MNK has to be in the right stance to use its Silence. Besides turn 1, 2 and 9, when do you ever need Silence? And when you do, a PLD or BRD will do a better job with their off GCD.
One Ilm Punch: useless in most contents at 50 besides the Dullahan in AK.
I don't see how you don't see these obvious flaws to your argument why monk is better than dragoon when you're 50 monk with Relic Zenith.

DRGs are certainly not that far behind monks but it's true that if you want dps, there's no reason to bring a drg over a monk unless you have 2 bards.

Total sustained of a drg+bard is less than that of a monk+bard seeing as a monk will have around 8% more damage and disembowel doesn't work on dots.

The only time total raid damage will increase if you bring a drg is if you have 2 bards.

DRGs are also probably the most squishy dps class, while I think we get more hp from our job crystal, we take ridiculously more damage from unavoidable magic aoes.

I think DRGs are pretty balanced as a class if we compare to any class but monks.

Or if your group already has a MNK. I always think its funny how DRGs and MNKs both feel like the have to compete over 1 melee slot. My static runs DRG, MNK, BRD and SMN and there is no way in hell i would take a BLM over either MNK or DRG. I feel an optimal static would want both Disembowel and Dragons Kick on the boss, for the increased BRD dmg and decreased Mag dmg on the tank.

FF2 would like a word with you

Yes it wasn't a wyvern usable in combat but it was a VERY important plot device surrounding Richard and the last of his tradition

Judging from your post, I would say that you're bad being a bad dragoon? Drg dps is fine. We have the awesome burst dps(Plenty Off-GCD), good DoT, we even have disembowel debuff for us and bard. And Drg is easier to use compared with Monk.
