I had hoped to plan an event for my Free Company where a bunch of us would stay up to watch the liveletter and live-translation together. A few of us did that with the last one and had a blast cracking jokes and talking about the things as they were being talked about in the letter. I had to cancel that after finding out Reinhart wouldn't be doing a live translation for this one.
I have to agree with the person above as well, while I appreciate what the community team does for us with the Q&A, there's just so much more you pick up on with a live translation. The little jabs the devs take at one another, the jokes, its just less "sterile" than getting the bare minimum of the questions and straight to the point answers.
I've stayed up to catch the live translation of every live letter since release (I've pulled many a late night to do so seeing as they start around 4-5 am my time), and I'd love to see it become a formal legitimate practice done by Square and the team.
Would it matter to you all if a script for the whole letter was translated the next day rather than live, or is that the whole point?
Just to make sure I'm understanding the complaints. Q&A summaries such as the one below are considered bare minimum, unsatisfactory, and a slap in the face to the English speaking community?

are you referring to the live letter that was shown march 21st that was releasing information in regards to patch 2.2, you know the patch that came out march 26th... and our live letter full translation came out 2 weeks AFTER that patch on april 9th.. yeah I do find that a bit.. lackingJust to make sure I'm understanding the complaints. Well, I'd like to think that the community team, as well as the localization team, is constantly working on various tasks and assignments in addition to the live letters.are you referring to the live letter that was shown march 21st that was releasing information in regards to patch 2.2, you know the patch that came out march 26th... and our live letter full translation came out 2 weeks AFTER that patch on april 9th.. yeah I do find that a bit.. lacking
I sincerely doubt those letters are scripted, and it takes time to transcribe a 150 minute video, select the portions deemed most valuable, have them translated into three languages (English, French, and German), and then have them proof-read to ensure there are as few mistakes as possible. (Because god knows everyone and their uncle will sift through any information given with a fine tooth comb.)
It takes time to get things done, and while two weeks is a bit long, I think its reasonable considering all they have to prioritize. If anything, assuming they're aware of the time required, I'd say the scheduling of the live letter with consideration for time required to translate is lacking.
