What should also be considered is the fact that this reproduction of bombs is not unique to kobolds - in fact, the first example we have of it actually predates the kobold beastmen dailies in the Cherry Bomb minion. However, it seems the processes are slightly different to what Ferne has suggested!
Summons a miniature recreation of a voidsent bomb, created via the thaumaturgical rendering of umbrally charged aetherial energy. Guaranteed never to self-destruct, or your gil back. Use item to acquire the cherry bomb minion.
Thaumaturgical rendered umbral charged aetherial energy seems like a magical, summoning type process rather than an alchemical, biological breeding program to me

Speaking of Goblins. something I always wondered about them: is the word "shkoh!" that appears whenever one speaks their breathing apparatus or an exclamation? I can see it as either way. Brainfruit hurt most now >.<

Okay then. that's what I'll do. I'll tell you a story. Can you hear them? All these people who lived in terror of you and your judgement. All these people who's ancestors devoted themselves to you, sacrificed themselves to you. Can you hear them singing?

I may be wrong, but I think the shkoh may just be the sound of them breathing. It's very... Darth Vaderish sounding lol

I think the answer there might lie in the "miniature recreation" part. Re-creations need not be the same as the original. The Battle of Gettysburg wasn't fought with blanks, model trains don't require coal, non-wind-up Aldgoats don't explode with chocobo down when slaughtered. If army men can be plastic, I'd imagine miniature bombs can be toys of aether and ash.

I'd all but call it confirmed that they're breathing sounds. "Pshhhh" being the sound of air passing through the mask on the inhale, "Shkkohhhh" being the pressure of the exhale being enough to penetrate back through. You can hear the same sounds if you cover your mouth and nose with your hands and breath slowly.

I've added all the new mob names to the chart, but a lot remain uncategorized. I haven't gotten much further with most of the issues in the thread, either, but I'll keep picking at it and hope there's still some lore in the mines. Maybe making a bulleted list of unknowns would help.

I've also made it so that anyone can leave info they find as a comment.

I can see your inference and it does make sense. My only issue with it is, the cherry bomb seems to fall into the category of "living" minions looking at its aesthetics and the way it acts, rather than a "toy" minion like the wind-ups. There is a big difference between the coeurl kitten and the wind-up aldgoat, or a chocobo chick and the wind-up Dalamud (and no, not just the name - there are some toy minions which do not have the wind-up label).

What the kobolds do with taking a bombs and breeding them could also be recreations in a way - the advanced smart bombs behave in a very different way to the voidsent bombs of Eorzea. They are not the same as the originals, either.

The kobold alchemists are not creating them in the sense of creating them from scratch, but more creating a new 'generation' of Eorzean-born bombs via the genetic manipulation and breeding of voidsent captured in the wild
If they aren't "growing" them, what exactly does 789th Order Acolyte Ba Go do with the bomb cores he's collected (other than bathe and talk to them like his precious little daughters)?

I couldn't find the post about the gigants to see the information there - I recently unlocked the level 40 guildhest Solemn Trinity which states the following about the three clans of gigants:
The gigants are made up of three distinctive classes: the ruling class of gigas, the slave class of giants, and the hecatoncheires-- a second class of slaves who have spent the past several centuries trapped in a sealed mine. The enmity between the classes runs deep, and when any two converge, sparks will fly. But, when all three converge... the results can be devastating.
Parties from all three of the gigant classes have stumbled onto a dig site of the Sons of Saint Coinach. The researchers have all fled to safety, but the artifacts they discovered remain on the field. Slay the intruders while protecting the relics from needless destruction.
It is interesting that there are some sort of caste in the social structure of gigants. We know they are capable of a little speech, and that at least the hecatoncheires show some family bonds as evidence from the bosses in Copperbell Mines (easy and hard mode). I'd like to learn more of these interesting beastmen.

Combing through the chart alongside the minion guide, mount guide, and the 203 new mobs looking for genus/species that need to be added, errors that need to be fixed, and confirmations that can be made. Some fun things I've noticed so far:

    • The golems who've been hijacked by spriggans (assuming the spriggan has taken to the soulstone as it would the usual rock and somehow fused their destinies) is called a Spriggolem.
    • Golems are indeed a soulkin.
    • Dullahan are Voidsent (not golems, as some Eorzeans believed. In fact, they're closer to Mindflayers)
    • Mindflayers are just like Dullahan, but the formless entities inhabit flesh instead of metal
    • The creatures of the void are believed to exist in a hierarchy of twelve tiers (Ahriman are in the 5th)
    • Behemoths seem to be normal beastkin
Chart's getting pretty big; thinking of splitting it into tabs...

Something tells me the Asceans, the Twelve or the Zodiac have something to do with these tiers.

So I'm wondering, where might the creatures from Patch 2.4 and 2.5 be classified in Eorzean taxonomy?

Like in Sastasha (Hard): would Karlabos be a Vilekin or Wavekin? And should those lamiae and mutant reavers be considered Spoken, considering.....

And while we're at it, how about those flying goats equipped with machine guns at the Keeper?

I think the Einhandr are likely Cloudkin.
