    Yes!
And I must admit, I am eager to see if the Amdapori city had some connection to, or remnants of white magic, or the War of the Magi. Yet, seeing some of those very ghastly monsters, I couldn't think of beings further removed from the idea of white magic! I cannot wait to learn more about the history of this dungeon in particular!

    Nnnnnegative.
The Sabotenders in the ant dungeon whose name escapes me right now use 1000 Needles.

It could just be the build up of monsters getting strong from the chest.

Down the path of Corruption, we see the two types of possession, Succubus, whereby creatures from the void possess corporeal forms, and a Dullahan, what is implied to be the vengeful spirit of man possessing corporeal armor. One voidsent and one ashkin (?), but the same concept. Down the path of Resurrection, by overcoming the flames of hell (Vassago is a demon) and a savage beast with a biblical name, one rises to the ascended - the reborn, unstoppable guardian - Acheron.
In this case, I believe Ash trumps other classifications. The undead follow some different rules such as resurrection in battle. Once something dies, if it is undead in anyway, it is now Ashkin.

Also, another dreaded topic... What will the new monsters be classified as? I'll throw out my initial guesses:

    Lamia/Medusa: Spoken
Diabolos: ?????? Primal. I think he'll end up like Siren, displaying quasi primal traits such as the ability to bind souls to himself (Siren's songs/temptations, Tempering, Drowning, Crushing, Twisting)
    Hecteyes: Voidsent
    Zombbues: Ashkin
    Damselflies: Vilekin
    Manticores: Beastkin
    Urasus/bears: Beastkin
    Wamoura: Vilekin
    Mimics: Soulkin
Banshee????: Ashkin (Pause promotional video at 2:46)
    Catoblepas: ???? Beastkin???

I wouldn't count Lamia/Medusa as a Spoken, not until we see how she is down there in the coil.
The reason is simply because she is in coil, up to now everything we've seen in coil has been allagan constructs of some form or shape, from dark matter clones to AI cores to-
Well, there's Twintania and the Scourges of Meracydia, which are honest-to-god bound dragons, yet the snakes certainly looked artificial constructs.

There is a high possibility that Lamia might be a higher form of cyborg, so I wouldn't put clearly as spoken just yet.
As for Diabolos, I think he is most likely a voidsent? I mean, his aesthetic/style seems to call for being a voidsent, it's unlikely he is a Primal, same way that Siren isn't (she merely can cast charm, and is a necromancer).

I'm getting a vibe from the promo vid that creatures have been entering and being twisted by the effects of the Binding Coil for years. I first started suspecting it in when I first entered turn 1. The pelicans, the coeurls, the claws, all the darkmatter beasts are residents native to La Noscea. The exist only so far in and then its really only Allagan constructs until you see the dragonkin and snakes. I have no idea what to think of the NM snakes.

Having said all that, I bet the ochu has been touched by the corruption (the are native now to the North Shroud). I could see there being a new species of spoken that moved into the Shroud as the north became too cold (snakes would). So if one of their early arrivals discovered the power of the corrupt aether perhaps it ventured in.

Perhaps they were a class of spoken long sealed in the planet and released by the passages opened by the wreckage. Who knows, but don't discount the natural creeping in. Nature will find a way...

Now that you mention it, that is a weird name for it. Pups are dogs, sharks, rodents, and seals. That's a coeurl cub, man.

Not to mention that the coeurl pups are twice as large as the coeurl mounts... They don't seem very pup-like.
