I suggest party finder for watching cut scenes in comfort and without harassment.
The party finder won't get you a Praetorium Story group for days. People don't check it for those kinds of runs unfortunately. I know that doesn't mean that we can just jump into duty finder and expect our way, but for those thinking the would be cutscene watchers are completely inconsiderate, please reconsider, and be as supportive as you can. You're not obligated to do so, but it's a really nice thing to do for that player. Chances are you won't run into another new player in the next 5-10 runs anyway.

That's true when the group actually has an agreed upon plan, such as with a Party Finder group that put it in the PF listing. If you join a party that's listed as being for a speedrun, then watching long cutscenes would be breaking that agreement, and therefore valid cause for a kick. In Duty Finder, however, there is no pre-determined group plan. You can still establish one once the run starts IF everybody agrees to it, but nobody who never agreed to your plan has to follow it.

Guess you missed the point there. It's not that someone is driving reckless, it's that you can clearly avoid the situation, but because you refuse to adapt you get hit and die.

As for the pasta dish, how about all the cutscene watchers do a party together? You would never make it past the dungeon, because you arn't good. That's why you are watching a cutscene in the first place.
So how about being thankful you even get to run this dungeon. (be thankful you even get to eat, since you contributed nothing)

Also, you act like im the one losing this argument tamorae?

Guess what you just kicked out of the group for watching a cutscene, and we are all laughing.

    So who's mad now bra?
No. You're just making terrible analogies that don't make any sense. It doesn't prove your point, it just makes everyone confused and face palm.

3 people could have voted no and still gotten the person kicked.

    Someone call the WAAAAAHHHHMBULANCE.
Ruining someones first story run for your 1000th farm run is selfish. Asking for the "waaahmbulance" for people who are trying to stick up for newer players is Toxic. Old players making it tougher for new players because of their own desires. That is toxic.

Yesterday I ran a roulette and the group kicked out a bard with 2900 health who was watching cutscenes at 4/6. We never got a dps. We never needed a dps. They just kicked him and stopped him from completing the story for no other reason than it annoyed them that he wanted to experience the story. That is toxic. I voted against the kick. So no. It isn't 7 v 1. Its a mob mentality of selfishness.

MMORPGS should have absolutely nothing more then world lore, no story line whatsoever. If you are playing an MMORPG for the story, then you are playing for the wrong reason. Single player games are for story, multiplayer games are for the gameplay.
Your point about 'the One' vs 'loads if us and we're all the One?' has some validity, but it's not really like you're trying to imply it is. Or at least, it doesn't have to be if the game's writing is good. Having thousands of Frodos who all have The One Ring is indeed ridiculous, but tou can have thousands of mercenary/heroic adventurers who have different stuff. MMORPGs are no different from pen n paper RPGs in that respect.

Also, depending on genre, MMORPGs can arguably better represent their worlds thsn single-player. City of Heroes or the still running Champions superhero MMORPGs have thousands of unique yet manifestly superpowered individuals running, flying and superjumping around fighting supervillains. And the comicbook worlds they are emulating, likewise, have a vast population of protagonists.

Legolas wasn't the only Elf in Middle Earth, you know.

Making a PC in an MMORPG gollow exactly the same story as he would in a single-player is often stupid, especially when open-world stuff is used. Having a huge queue of adventurers waiting to take a turn at killing a named mob, only for it to magically appear in seconds, is utterly stupid IMO. Which is why I prefer instances for anything apart from trash mob hunting. But gor instance to work, the game also needs a robusy and well-designed grouping and quest-sharing system, which I gather FF doesn't have.

But you can't really apply actual logic w/ people like Myth. You certainly never want to try and convince them that their behavior is, in fact, wrong.
You're better off trying to teach a cat to speak Mandarin.
They will never admit that what they're doing is hurting the community and the game as a whole.

The good news is that despite of how loud they are, they are a minority.
Nobody wants to play with jerks whether it is a f2p or a p2p game but it is all the more true for the p2p model.
The even better news is that the rest of us don't actually have to put up with them and their selfishness.
That's what people need to remember.

There is a reason that I'm trying to pull together our Free Company to run three new players at once through Castrum and Praetorium tonight, as an 8-man premade.

The hell I have watched some people put first-timers through is absolutely disgusting. I regularly make the best effort I can to alleviate this, but I've still seen people get kicked - or players who've just outright quit runs because of the harassment they've gotten.
