For starters this is an MMORPG, the fact that there is even a storyline is ridiculous. Why? because you're supposed to be some super special "the one" type of person, but guess what! so are the other hundreds of thousands of players. MMORPGS should have absolutely nothing more then world lore, no story line whatsoever. If you are playing an MMORPG for the story, then you are playing for the wrong reason. Single player games are for story, multiplayer games are for the gameplay.

While it does suck that you have to be treated such a way because you want to watch the cut scenes, as you shouldn't be treated as such. You do need to stop and realize that you are playing a game online, with thousands of other people, and many of those people possess a false sense of entitlement that feel that their time is worth more then yours. There are also people that are not there to carry or teach new players. They are there to get things done. If they are teaching new players, then they're fine with it, but otherwise they don't want to stand around waiting on you.

Reading your posts, it doesn't sound like you're mad about the threats, it sounds like your pissed that people did everything without you. Don't assume people will wait on you, because if you expect people to wait on you, then you're being just as rude as they are.

Cut-sceners are the ones harassing the group.

Your point about 'the One' vs 'loads if us and we're all the One?' has some validity, but it's not really like you're trying to imply it is. Or at least, it doesn't have to be if the game's writing is good. Having thousands of Frodos who all have The One Ring is indeed ridiculous, but tou can have thousands of mercenary/heroic adventurers who have different stuff. MMORPGs are no different from pen n paper RPGs in that respect.

Also, depending on genre, MMORPGs can arguably better represent their worlds thsn single-player. City of Heroes or the still running Champions superhero MMORPGs have thousands of unique yet manifestly superpowered individuals running, flying and superjumping around fighting supervillains. And the comicbook worlds they are emulating, likewise, have a vast population of protagonists.

Legolas wasn't the only Elf in Middle Earth, you know.

Making a PC in an MMORPG gollow exactly the same story as he would in a single-player is often stupid, especially when open-world stuff is used. Having a huge queue of adventurers waiting to take a turn at killing a named mob, only for it to magically appear in seconds, is utterly stupid IMO. Which is why I prefer instances for anything apart from trash mob hunting. But gor instance to work, the game also needs a robusy and well-designed grouping and quest-sharing system, which I gather FF doesn't have.
