Dragoons: A Rotation Reborn

Hello all,

Long time lurker of this thread, and Dragoon is one of my favourite non-tank classes to play (I main a tank).

For T8, I would most likely be going Dragoon, since my party will probably do the 1 tank/5 dps route. In terms of gearing, if Soldiery is not available to me, what are my options? How much should I push for crafted i90 gear? At the moment, my Dragoon is average iLevel 90, and the only ways I can think of to improve it at the moment is to get the Ribbon of Slaying, and to farm for the Mirror to upgrade my Wave Harpoon.

The i90 crafted gear are extremely good compared to the soldiery, due to the massive amount of skill speed in soldiery. If you have the gil, you can get full crafted left side with penta melds and you'll probably do better than full left side i100 weathered. The i90 crafted helm with the proper penta melds has more dps weight than both i110 pieces with about the same accuracy. If you want to upgrade, then you'll probably upgrade the helm first and then the belt since it's t9 I guess.

If you only need it for t8, then I don't know if I would spend a lot of gil on crafted gear seeing as the gains wouldn't really help that much for your clear. The dps check for t8 is pretty lax if you go 5 dps as long as you get mechanics right.

The only other option is possibly farm your Animus or optimise your current ilvl90 gear - most important is to reach the T8 accuracy cap.
Crafted is definitely the best option if you have the Gil, but if you are running 5DPS you should quite easily reach the 1680~ DPS requirement, I would suggest do T8 with your group a bit and don't commit to crafting until after your group has the mechanics and you know fairly certainly that DPS will be a problem.
