Let's just face it. The FFXIV community is too pansy assed to allow for decent pvp in the game. Pvp requires an aggressive mindset amongst its players to be successful, especially in the arena format SE chose to start with. Unfortunately most of the people that enjoy FF enjoy the cute, snuggly, fluffy minions and the completely inane storyline and would rather have naked lallafel dance-offs then actually get in an arena and pound face with other players.

There's plenty of people who would do PvP, if it was remotely interesting. A single 4v4 arena with a combat system that doesn't really lend itself to PvP doesn't cut it for most people.

Having all the abilities unlocked at the start might tempt me to give it a go to get a feel for them before Frontlines, but as it stands queuing for 2 hours to get stomped by rank 30-40s inside a minute? I'd rather go play a game that's more focused on PvP if that's what I want to do.

if the matchmaking system was the way it was before we would never have this problem. Its a fking pain for r30+ players to get into matches. While i que up for 1 match i have friends rank 10-15 getting instaques and completeing 2-3 matches before i could even get in 1. Yeah the whole matchmaking system is fked up now

Nope, Arena is just the worse system for a game with predominantly PvE players. That is completely different from a mindless script that always hits the tank. People get destroyed, then they downplay it by saying its not a pvp game. Or they are PvE carebear gamers who feel their opinions weighs more heavily then yours, those also go 'its not a pvp game'.

Frontlines is much better. Let the weaker players stand in the back and throw fireballs, let them hide in the crowd. You will find they will enjoy pvp a lot more.

An arena system itself if amazing for pvp but there is a very steep learning curve (not so much in this game even, really). If you think frontlines will have bétter pvp, you are probably a carebear.(not personally aimed at guy i quoted.)

What's unfortunate for some can be a blessing for others. I Like the glamour gear from PvP, it's just not my thing. To each their own. But yeah, win traders and SE noob entry into the PvP world makes quite the mixture.

*I prefer female Mi'qote than pedo-lalafell, but once again, that's just me ^^

Getting to kill those people is the only reason I PVP in this game.

Even if players could get into pvp, as a lower rank (16-17ish now) pvper it's no fun dieing to players In full 30-40 ranked gear. On top of that I only get a horrible 10-20 exp and 20-30 marks? How can anyone with the lacking pvp gear ever catch up or gear decently enough to actually be able to play against those with the gear? They can't and that's why no one is playing with all the r30-40 people there is no point in it with rewards so low.
