I did wonder why numbers kept popping up over the mobs heads to start with, pretty obvious once I realised. However I haven't figures out the marking yet as I didn't know it existed until today. I do overpower when I thought it was needed but I tend to run out of tp quickly if I spam it. How do you manage tp? Just not attack constantly?

Also, could someone tell me why sometimes I hear the loot drop noise but don't have a loot notification and no one appears to have picked any up
Since you're playing on a console, you're going to want to get accustomed to cycling through your hotbars. My tank, my healer, and my DPS all have 2 separate hotbars. One for battle essentials, one for out-of-battle essentials. The second usually involves quick target marking and chat macros, while the former involves macros and essential actions. I usually prioritise the most important on the right hand, and the lesser on the left, as the left is used for movement as well.

If you flick through you'll see the hotbar with all the read icons. You're looking for the one that's called signs. Bring that up and allocate 1, 2, 3 and 4 to hotkeys. From there it's simply a matter of cycling through enemies and hitting the appropriate number. There are other ways to alert players to the target using macros, but this is a pretty simple way.

When you hit a mob, your first point of call is to build aggro as quickly as possible. Get Flash from the Gladiator tree. A double or triple flash is an excellent way to build that enmity up quickly. I've watched Marauders and Gladiators from the back end as they draw aggro, and have played both, and I have to say that hands-down, the Gladiator's Flash trumps anything the Marauder has for building immediate mob aggro. Also, Flash uses MP, not TP, so you can pop off several where needed without taking a hit to your TP (which you need to deal the damage to build the aggro).

That SCHINK sound you're hearing is your Limit Break bar activating. This allows you to use your LB.
