My SMN right now has 500 Spell Speed, this is way too much isn't it? I was thinking of trying to phase that down to 300 or so.

It's a little better for WAR because of their move versatility, they can leave Defiance up and not pull Enmity with their Maim combos but still hit harder than a PLD would in Shield Oath, outside of Tank stance and WAR would hit even harder than PLD also out of it because of Berserk and their rotations. While I'm not sure why WAR gets a lot of skill speed, some people say its for more dps. uh... what? Tank dps? lol I do feel that it can make more of a contribution to PLD since their stun is on a global. Imagine if you had access to a stun every two seconds! (exaggerating the possibility) but that would be fantastic. In its current state its pretty useless since you need a lot and we probably won't be seeing any potential until maybe the ilvl 150's. It just takes too much for a minuscule increase in weapon skill recast.
yeah its sucks , its like they wanted to add haste but didnt want it to be OP , atm is useless for a lot of jobs , wasted stat budget....
and doesnt help that every piece but 2 has it(soldiery gear)
and war gets a lot of it because wrath , the faster u stack to V the faster u can use inner beast again , so adds survavility in the end.

It'd be interesting if it is revealed some day that it served a double purpose. The first being what we all already know, it's essentially a Haste stat. But that the second purpose was as an equalizer to stat budget on equips in order to prevent overstacking of crit/det for a given item level tier. It has (at least) a small potential benefit to a player, but is primarily there to balance ourselves out.
They could just find a way to make it relevent. When I first started I went oooooo skill speed, that will help alot. JK, it doesn't give any benefit at all.
it's pretty evident you don't know any thing about the game if you think that spell speed/skill speed is useless. Spell speed is one of the most important stats for Black Mages, and Skill speed is the same for Monks. In fact, with out skill speed buffs Monks would literally be the most worthless dps class in the game, in capable of keeping up with any one else.

Spell speed is good for black mages, yes. But you're wrong about monks. The way monks have been balanced is that they are able to complete their rotations to maintain their greased lightning in time with the GCD. Increasing your skill speed allows for too much time in between, either refreshing your buffs/debuffs prematurely or forcing you to add an inferior weapon skill into your rotation to compensate for gained time. Skill speed does nothing but make you chew through TP faster, which is already a big issue for monk. It's still weighted as the weakest secondary stat for monk.it's pretty evident you don't know any thing about the game if you think that spell speed/skill speed is useless. Skill Speed actually benefits MNK the same as everyone else, due to how the GL GCD reduction is calculated. Det > Crit > Speed for both MNK and DRG (though Speed is a lot closer to Crit for MNK).
