    Maybe if the people defending the system would make up their minds it'd be easier to actually take them seriously. They just keep contradicting themselves by basically saying "see it's a casual alternative because it doesn't involve killing hard monsters and you can do it at a slow pace but it's also hardcore because time consuming = hard why do you want everything on a silver plate you have to earn it with blood, sweat and tears from pressing 1 over and over, why don't you have an Atma yet?"

    Maybe if the people attacking the system would make up their minds it'd be easier to take them seriously. They just keep contradicting themselves by basically saying "see I don't want everything handed to me I just want fun and challenging content yet a second later say that some content such as levi ex is too difficult for them when others propose they farm for wave weapons instead.

    So if I were to propose that atma drops for every member of the raid from the final boss of t7 and you get 4 atmas per kill. A raid group will have their 12 atmas in 3 kills. This would definitely incur a shitstorm that makes the current whining look like a storm in a teacup (animus shouldn't be gated behind endgame wah wah wah) So you want challenging content but extreme primals/coil are too difficult for you. Make up your mind already!

    The current system, while not pretty and certainly having its faults, is the most logical progression path for SE to take. You either

    1) Focus on higher level skill content and have a potentially much higher chance of getting your weapon quicker (coil)
    2) Focus on lower level skill content and acknowledge that you are subject to the possibility of a much longer grind than someone that is doing harder content. (animus)
    3) Focus on middle of the road content which combines the elements of both aforementioned points (levi/mirrors)

    I've said this before, and I'll continue saying it in hopes it sinks in.

    Atma as a concept is not bad, but it is placed in the wrong place in the ladder of progression and given to the wrong demographic. The guilds running Coil ad nauseum (AKA the self-proclaimed non-casuals) should be the ones dealing with low-drop-rate RNG systems like Atma (or their predecessors, Splinters of Atiesh/Fragments of Val'anyr) because the system would then encourage them to organize themselves while giving them repeatable content that would be a long term project.

    In short, "non-casuals" play enough to justify an RNG-centered system because of the pace in which they consume contentm and the same cannot be said for those who don't fit into that non-casual bracket. As for me, I'm staying away until I see significant changes to Atma or a weapon that is reasonably obtainable that acts as an alternative to relics enters the game. Just a shame that we had things reasonably paced before this system was introduced and the devs decided to go entirely in the other direction.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
    Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

    In all fairness to SE, they do listen when we have a complaint and either address the issue or explain the reasoning behind it. I am not exactly defending them, but the next part of the relic quest was delayed because of the feedback we gave about the Atma quest.

    The Dev's in the future just need to know that everyone should be putting the same amount of effort to complete a task. Not one person put less effort and get all 12 in a day while someone who has done a grotesque amount of work in comparison for weeks to only have 7-8 of them. That should never happen.

    I may not have much room to talk since I got all my Atma by the second day the patch came out and have Animus now. However I do care about equality and like to know the person next to me didn't put less or more effort into the task I completed also.
