The point is simple, the RNG system is flawed and grinding boring as low level fates is not a fun experience. I much rather have a hard, long and difficult quest line where skill and my actual class skills come into play and then at the end getting a reward that I worked for.

Instead we have this. Lvl 10-20 fates grinding endlessly with 1-2 skills at our disposal hour after hour waiting for that 1 Atma to drop.. yeah..not fun. You know why spending 20 week in coil 5-9 isnt a problem? It is fun. I have no issues with the RNG system in dungeons and raids as they are fun to do. I don't get my item, no big deal Ill wait and repeat and have fun in the progress. With Fates... I do not. I wait, I repeat, I wait, I repeat, I wait, I repeat, I wait, I repeat all while pressing 4...4..4..4..4.4.4.4.4.4.4.4..4 on every mob(4 has my insta cast low lvl bio on it) waiting for that potential atma...
RNG is not a "flawed" system. It's the tradition of RPGs (and various other genres) to have them. MMORPGs, in particular, use this traditional system for numerous reasons. Some reasons being it is to keep much of the player base from getting what they want too quickly and prevent the game from being too static/formulaic. It IS a matter of patience, despite how saintly you think you might be on the matter. It's true that 20hrs is a long time these days, but guess what? People putting in that much time in a span of a couple days or so is a sign of impatience. It's not fun for you? Good, that's essentially the point. You strive through things that are burdening to reap the rewards. The very foundation of MMORPG enjoyment, that separates it from most other games/genres, comes from that idea.

Not quite. I am picking up what you're putting down, but this piece is incorrect.

The problem is not having RNG, the problem is having this extreme discrepancy. It would be ok to have some get all 12 atmas in 6 hours and some get all 12 in 60 hours. Its not ok when some with over 100 hours didn't get one at all.

This would actually be a great idea for them to do. The books are essentially the same as buying a piece of gear ahead of time to use when you hit the appropriate level.

This isn't FFXI so this has no bearing on this game and its successes and failures.

Too. Damn. Bad. If you want to progress, you're either going to need to put in time on Atma, or you can put in time on Primals. Pick where to put your time.
Yoshi himself made the comment that many people were still stuck on titan and they were considering nerfing it because of that. The extreme primals that follow are arguably easier than titan himself. Yes, people are stuck on a hard fight.

[QUOTE=Muziko;2059770This is an MMO, and while the majority of the game's content can be done fairly quickly, there are some things that will require time. The sooner you accept that you WILL need to sink time into getting high level weapons, the sooner you can decide which route you want to take.[/QUOTE]

You do realize that a lot of the people that are complaining about the system have already sunk more time into getting what atmas they currently have than some people have done with the entire upgrade right?

Or have it "omit" the roll if you don't get an Atma. Atma drops on 48. The host calculates your roll as 47. You move onto the next FATE and you roll a 49. You can no longer roll 47 or 49 increasing your ratio at getting an Atma. If you change areas, the table resets. If you log out for longer than 5 minutes, the table resets.

You keep the timesink and lock people into areas to bait and switch the PS4 player, you solve the problem for world famous drop tables SE is known for, you keep the mouth breathers happy and thinking they are super elite by already having their Atma weapons and rubbing peoples faces in it.

They are still looking at feedback from what I can gather based on the dev letter, so expect changes in the next patches.

What's wrong with you? Ball-in-a-cup requires great coordination and skill. Once you've completely mastered the basics, you can increase the difficulty on your own terms.

Fates used to require 1 button (a macro I made for them that did Stoneskin->Riot Blade x2->repeat->echo ding. A WHM alternatively can aggro the boss->Un-level-sync->Regen themselves for AFK gold), but recently I realized that if I summon my Chocobo on heal I can just AFK auto-attack and most FATE bosses will eventually die on their own.

I'm offended you would equate something as fun and stimulating as Ball-in-a-cup to FATEs.

Maybe if the people attacking the system would make up their minds it'd be easier to take them seriously. They just keep contradicting themselves by basically saying "see I don't want everything handed to me I just want fun and challenging content yet a second later say that some content such as levi ex is too difficult for them when others propose they farm for wave weapons instead.

So if I were to propose that atma drops for every member of the raid from the final boss of t7 and you get 4 atmas per kill. A raid group will have their 12 atmas in 3 kills. This would definitely incur a shitstorm that makes the current whining look like a storm in a teacup (animus shouldn't be gated behind endgame wah wah wah) So you want challenging content but extreme primals/coil are too difficult for you. Make up your mind already!

The current system, while not pretty and certainly having its faults, is the most logical progression path for SE to take. You either

    1) Focus on higher level skill content and have a potentially much higher chance of getting your weapon quicker (coil)
    2) Focus on lower level skill content and acknowledge that you are subject to the possibility of a much longer grind than someone that is doing harder content. (animus)
    3) Focus on middle of the road content which combines the elements of both aforementioned points (levi/mirrors)
