I'm going to run FATEs. I'm going to get my weapon. And I'm going to like it because it isn't a Mythic weapon from FFXI where it took two years of daily raids to get enough Alexandrite to get the fully upgraded equipment.

If you want weapons without anywhere near the foot work involved in Animus quests, go get your Leviathan weapons.

...Did you just say that wasn't an option because they're hidden behind HM and EX primals?

Too. Damn. Bad. If you want to progress, you're either going to need to put in time on Atma, or you can put in time on Primals. Pick where to put your time. This is an MMO, and while the majority of the game's content can be done fairly quickly, there are some things that will require time. The sooner you accept that you WILL need to sink time into getting high level weapons, the sooner you can decide which route you want to take.

To add to that, if a player refuses to do XM primals and other difficult content, they don't really need an i100 weapon.

How would you like it it if plenty of other people only had to take two months compared to your two years?

@muziko and again a player that doesn't understand the actual issue. People here don't want easy hand outs and people here don't mind putting in effort. They want skill challenges to gain stuff, difficult challenging content to get items. They don't want to grind low lvl fates for hours, days, weeks, months just to get loot as it offers no challenge and is boring due to the crappy rng system tied to it.

Atma requires luck not time.Atma farm not something that requires time. I know people got all there Atma in a matter of 2 days then you have the unlucky sods (me) that only have 1 and still farm fates everyday.

The point is simple, the RNG system is flawed and grinding boring as low level fates is not a fun experience. I much rather have a hard, long and difficult quest line where skill and my actual class skills come into play and then at the end getting a reward that I worked for.
So go after the weapons in coil then, it is both difficult an requires your skill an coordnation. Some of us like to grind, why cant we have something we like in this game too.

Maybe if the people defending the system would make up their minds it'd be easier to actually take them seriously. They just keep contradicting themselves by basically saying "see it's a casual alternative because it doesn't involve killing hard monsters and you can do it at a slow pace but it's also hardcore because time consuming = hard why do you want everything on a silver plate you have to earn it with blood, sweat and tears from pressing 1 over and over, why don't you have an Atma yet?"

    Yea Roris,

Maybe it's because it's a comprise of hardcore and casual.
    Hardcore - grind
    Casual - fate

Which makes both sides hate it.

Then Coil is for you simple as that. End of subject.

But okay, just for the sake of all of this lets just say the Devs decide, "alright people aren't happy with the current way we're doing atma so lets change it." But change it how? Feedback that I've picked up so far states:

    a) Want something other than grinding low level fates.
    b) Needs to provide some level of challenge so it's more engaging.
    c) Needs to be more certain rather than uncertain concerning RNG so it's progressive.
    d) Better drop rates.

Lo and behold they do. But what you have to keep in mind is that the Zodiac weapon is meant to be a long term investment, so no matter what they do it's going to take time. Given this and the feedback, here's what you can expect to see (or something similar) unless they just decide cave all together and just buff the drop rates.

They will detach atma from the fates and attach them to ex primals (you'll hear a lot of whining about this already). So far we have five primals that could be used (excluding Odin, Diablos, and Siren). In the future as more primal ex fights come out we can divide up the atma amongst them further. Upon defeating a primal you will have a 20% chance of a drop, and you can only get an atma that you don't already have so no need to worry about wasting time on duplicate atma. Again remember this is supposed to take time, so once you get your atma you now get to wait a week before you can get your next one. Say hello to lock outs again (remember all the complaining surrounding this issue?). So all in all it's going to take at least 12 weeks to get your atma weapon or rather about 3 months. This is also assuming you stay on top of it and don't miss a drop before the next lock out.

Now given this idea lets see if it meets the requests of our check list:

    a) Does this take out the monotonous grind of the FATEs? Yes.
    b) Does it provide a level of engaging challenge (ie being able to use all of your abilites, skills, game knowledge)? Yes.
    c) Is there a higher drop rate concerning the frequency at which I will see an atma? Well the drop rate is 20% which is pretty decent so Yes.
    d) Does it provide a level of certainty therefore giving a feeling of guaranteed progression? As long as you keep making successful weekly runs Yes.

Granted I could do a few various other things with this, but given what I keep seeing in these threads, the aforementioned is exactly what people are asking for. Bear in mind there have already been complaints about lock outs, moaning and groaning over content locked behind ex primals, but this is pretty much what people are wishing for. Do you see this pattern forming now? If not I can't help you.

If you sincerely don't mind this sort of thing then hey more power to you as it won't bother me either. If not, then you need to stop making these bandwagon claims to how the atma system should work as you're only going to make your situation more insufferable. Either way people are still going to QQ no matter what is done as they only want it handed to them on a silver platter, and you'll know who these people are if and when the above comes to pass and those very same people that were asking for it return to cry some more.

You do realize there's a difference between refusing to do something and not being able to get past it, right?
