    Eh, sure. Timesinks aren't bad by default. So long as the player can play for a few hours and make progress then that's fine. None of this RNG crap where you can successfully do something over and over and not get rewarded at all. You could have just not logged on to do that, after all.

    And, most importantly, whatever the timesink is should be enjoyable. I'd rather have to fight 12 big mean difficult atma guardians over grinding a random number of level 12 fates. Both could take a while, but only one is something most players would enjoy.

    Sort of like the bosses from Tactics? That'd be nice, especially if they had new models for them, instead of recolors that are sure to come at some point lol Completely random patterns would be nice too, instead of 100% scripted.

    How about before fighting the Zodiac bosses, you'd have to obtain the atma for the one you want to fight? Obviously not this fate grinding, but some other way. Fail the fight? Refarm it. I can feel the rage off people already from that lol But it's not a bad idea. They could even make it so for another upgrade, you'd have to fight 3 at once or something.

    Also, no echo, no being able to do it with less than a full party, something that requires teamwork. Mostly to kill off the paid runs so you won't get the trap known as "bad people who don't pay attention/know their job, but have good gear"
    If they did add something hard like this, I'm sure the community would be a lot better. Instead of "Bad people in your pt? /kick", It'd probably turn into "Bad people in your pt? Actually teach/help them so they get better" Also, no putting this on the DF, make the server work together. It's a mmo, you should be working to better the group as a whole, instead of yourself.

    Edit because ALL THE IDEAS >.>

    They could have even done something crazy like, a big quest chain with time consuming stuff, leading up to fighting each of the Zodiac bosses and even tie it in with the real Zodiac dates. Which would require pumping multiple questlines / fights each month, but still.

    I was actually very happy to have a reason again to visit those low level zones. Was refreshing to be there again without being bored to death.

    If the quest was so greatly designed and worth defending for how good and "challenging" it was and didn't need to be changed because it was "fair" to everyone how come not many have their Animus yet and they're postponing the next step?

    It is, but SE's design is if one person in a party screws up it can mean a wipe, the battles rely too much on group cohesion which causes complications if other players are not up to speed with everyone else. Which is why I do not want it locked behind group content that is a pain to clear.

    Not all MMOs are designed this way and not on this level. Can have half your party wipe on some bosses, yet it doesn't mean a wipe because the classes can support more than one defined role of skill use allowing diversity in survival.

    Time can also translate to not being casual friendly, not just content difficulty. Which is, primarily, the stance that you and many others complain about having problems with. RNG is not a nice mistress to be around, but it's a feature (love it or hate it) of RPGs... especially MMORPGs. When everything becomes predictable, you essentially have the mentality that you would in an FPS, shooter, puzzle, etc. You people really like to make everything predictable, don't you? No desire for astonishment and wonder. No love for unpredictability and the joy of defying the odds. That is, unless the odds are always in your favor.

    Not saying there's anything particularly bad about that, just that it's a sad thing to see. For as few of RNG related things this game has when it comes to gear/upgrades, they're still wanted to be made into the same old "must have by X time" sort of thing.
