So why do people keep assuming airships and such are coming with patch 1.19 again?

You're not the only one. I have seen a few people who have been historically critical of the game start to have a glimmer of hope. Lets hope the Dev Team actually does have their fingers on the pulse of the community and can keep up their momentum!
Cheers!
^^ Yeah I feel excited as well! I am even contemplating starting over from scratch once all these things are implemented by the end of summer just to experience the game in all it's new glory. But then I remembered I can just level another class and it will be just as good :P
Because Yoshida posted this last Friday.
In this post he basically re-emphasized his team is revamping the map, try to resolving the problem that Limsa and Gridania have no people (some detail already revealed in today's producer letter). Final part he said the devteam is doing their best to let Airship system catch up with 1.19 release.

I like how someone links a translation of a supposed article from the august 2011(remind me what month are we in now?) edition of connect-on and takes it as gospel.
Magazines dates are always a month in advance, the august edition is released at the end of june for most magazine (where I live anyways) So I don't see what you are trying to say here.
You mean "the magazine from the future"?
Well its an interesting business behavior of Japanese book dealers.
Due to many reason about the transportation and stock management, most of Japanese magazines mark itself 1 period faster than calendar date. (In this example, the volume "August" comes at the head of July.)
I quoted the original book link on Amazon JP so everyone can check by themselves.
